Can we stop this instant negativity to everything BWFC it's embarrassing and tedious bringing every one down and achieves fuck all if that's the default mode your set in give your head a fucking wobbl

  • I'm not convinced about that. He comes across as more deluded than Coyle on occasions.

But to add to it, we aren't in a position to gamble on a potential goalscorer for big money and if we loan someone who works out, there's the risk of losing them long term.

None of which is promising as the transfer window ends.

Still reckon a couple will come in though.

If, as the article suggests, we already knew that Crewe were going to be "unreasonable" in our eyes, given the same thing had happened with other clubs - why did we bother getting him to train with us?

our hope, i guess, was that a prem team didnt come in for him

i read tother day that it was shit losing to boro cos we're miles better on paper

a boro team that has strengthened in the summer and couldnt find a place in the team for juke even last season before they spent

I thought your usual line to protect Douglas in that the opposition had spent more than us was going to be a lot sooner than that after the game

I'd rather neither of these two had ever been mentioned. I stupidly let a modicum of optimism creep into my thinking.

I suspect they think a deal can be done after all this time has passed. The stories have a bit of double speak about them, with an undercurrent of threat to Crewe about getting nothing if he goes abroad. We'll go to a tribunal if Crewe drop the headline price or we can try before we buy.

It's in no one's interest go go through all this if something can't be worked out.

Crewe are just trying to get top dollar for him, well done unlike us who sell anyone decent for £4 million and get ripped off good luck to em I say

If they get a million, I'll show my arse etc etc.

Right now they're a team without funds to strengthen and unable to find anyone stupid enough to pay an inflated price for an out of contract player. If he goes abroad and they get nowt, someone at the club will be hung out to dry.

Even Prem teams at laughing at that price - teams like Sunderland who will buy any old tat.

Main thing for Crewe will be to negotiate a healthy sell on clause fee probably won't be anywhere close to a million straight up

but dont make stuff up

in what way are we 'better on paper' than boro

that was my point

id have our defence as being their equal but beyond that.....

that aussie ? centre back of theirs who we are forever said to be after was on their bench

Yeah I'd say until this summer we were comparable to Boro but they look much stronger now with their summer additions. They also have an excellent chairman and a new manager with a plan so another club that's leaving us far behind. And yes I know they lost today!

If we had a £3.5m/£5.5m striker like Forest or Boro we would have won both of those games. Unfortunately when we had £3.5m/£5.5m strikers they were Sordell & Ngog.

For fucks sake I'm sick of having this money excuse traipsed out by the hug a dougie brigade. We seemed to do perfectly well with former luminaries Kevin Davies (free, and don't think he came on a big wage, because at entry point, he was on fuck all), Ricketts (400K), Eidur (free). Ings & Vokes cost less than 1.5 million combined. It's as much to do with scouting as money.

Isn't Beckford an established goalscorer?

He was until Deadly Dougie got hold of him.

I seem to be answering a different question to the one posed, but no, recent stats would suggest otherwise. And just to get us back on track, he cost us 1 million.
