  • I'm not convinced about that. He comes across as more deluded than Coyle on occasions.

This is our worse midfield in 25 years.

Yep agree with that.

To have a Per Frandsen in our team right now....

Disagree. It isn't the personnel as much as the system. Not the best by far, but we have turned out worse. A lot worse.

In the last 25 years? Which midfield 4 were worse than our current one?

Well, as 1989 was still the Phil Neal era in the Third and we had the original Robbie Savage in there, anyone without rose coloured specs could take their pick.

Julian Darby, Paul Comstive, Steve Thompson, Stuart Storer was the midfield 4 that lost the play off final to Tranmere.Thats worse than the one we have now imo.

I don't think Spearings the problem and to sell our captain sends out the wrong message I don't think anyone should be leaving the club unless silly money offered we need to add to what we have open the purse strings to give us a chance when DF has either bucked up or someone with managerial ability has come in.

Even Bury was a penalty, an own goal and a free kick. How anyone can say we have the strikers is beyond me. Mason is decent but not our player and Craig Davies is ok as back up but not first choice starter week in week out. The less said about Beckford the better. Desperately need two more options in before window shuts

Don't get me wrong, our current 'strikers' (if I can use that term in it's loosest form) are not impressive.

But it is also to do with support and supply, which have to do with system/tactics. Other (and better) strikers could easily struggle in this current team.

Sorry I meant 23 years. :)

Stoke semi midfield 4.

Stoke semi midfield 4.

That was a midfield 3 plus a shit striker...

I'd have Tomo right now to be honest

And Feeney ain't much different from 'uart, 'uart 'orer

I'd have Tomo right now to be honest

 And Darby.

My apologies if it's already been mentioned or in the newspaper article but what is Roy Keane thinking in recommending Spearing to Paul Lambert ?

Surely on a piss take.

I agree with that but none of the others

Tomo's range of passing would put this bunch to shame.

Shhhh, Lambert may fall for it.

Tomo in the second half of his Bolton career - absolutely. In the first half (up until our year in Div 4) he was a lad playing a man's game and got bullied out of it most weeks.

And Darby.

As neither of them really made their mark much above the 3rd tier, I'll stick with not good enough.

I think we were being figurative, as in they worked well as a partnership at the level we were at back then, whereas we don't have a midfield pairing that works at the level we are currently at.

I think this May actually have more to do with the formation and tactics employed by downward dougie than anything else. I know who I'd rather jettison

Spearing is probably our top earner. Get rid

Seem to remember reading that he was on 20k a week here and he was on 3 million a year at Liverpool..

I don't think Spearing is a holding midfield player - but Dougie plays him there. He also quite often plays him there alongside someone of very similar stature in Medo. As a result our midfield is predictable and deficient. Dougie will end up experimenting with Ream in the holding position again soon.

Where/when's it going to end, if we get rid how much would we pay to replace him?
