November 24, 201510 yr It's not the brightest thing by Turkey shooting down a Russian fighter jet, apart from pissing off a nutter like Putin, Turkey's tourism will suffer badly too. November 25, 201510 yr In this case the 'bad guys' are the only ones doing anything that might be interpretted as actually having a go at the real evil twats here, whilst the best NATO can muster is shooting down their planes for the sort of 10 second airspace incursion which happens every day somewhere or other without anyone scrambling the jets. Sorry but NATO did not shoot this plane down. Turkey did, unilaterally. Not the same. Russia has already told its citizens to avoid Turkey for their holidays and both sides will be publicly angry at each other, but overall neither side here has any option but to remain - sort of - friends. Though bets are off if Russia chooses to throw resources at the Kurds. But that is unlikely.

It is (according to one week old maps) "rebel" controlled. This is who they were bombing. You'd have to be a full Communist Party member to believe anything different.

I'd have thought 30 km was very little to a jet, & this particular jet may or may not have been bombing ISIS but the Russians have done much, much more to damage ISIS than the Turks have.
