I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

I think one of the things for me that also degrades what the World Cup "experience" traditionally used to be is that with 48 teams and possibly 64, not many countries can feasibly host it alone anymore either through lack of space, stadiums or money.

So you end up with 2 or 3 co-hosts and it just kinds of dilutes its unique identity. Next one is Spain, Portugal and Morocco with a couple of games in South America thrown in. What sort of tournament is that? Mexico 86, Italia 90, France 98 etc the iconic memories are often directly linked to who hosted it.

I dont know if I can imagine the UK joint hosting a 64 team World Cup for 6 or 7 weeks somewhere down the line?!

Suppose it depends on your definition of ‘single places’, but I guess the UK is probably one of the few places capable of hosting one of the behemoth tournaments alone.

Stadium numbers, quality and capacity yes.

Space, training grounds and accommodation yes

they claim that is to do with it being the 100 year anniversary, but it was really a fast track of getting on multiple continents in one go so Saudi could have in it 2034

so blatently bent

Yep, a disgrace really. If we're going with co-hosting Id love an Australia/NZ one but 64 teams probably a stretch there too.

Fair few of the stadiums in their last bid were dependent on them winning it to even be built

Watching PNE vs Blackburn and the standard is above league 1 but not massively so. The difference for these championship clubs is they don't have to set up every 3rd week to play against a pub team so they can all concentrate on football. We have to get to get back in there asap.

I didn't say better than us. But they are, and if we go up we'd strengthen no doubt to hopefully be a match for them.

My point was that the general standard is higher and they're not having to deal with games away at Burton and the likes

Not having either of them are better than us.........Preston are a top six team until tonight. Blackburn are shocking

You say you did not say it then you say they are......All about opinions

Mine is that both of them are dire

DOOMED , Theyre all doomed !

It was a perfect storm for the scousers last season. The Premier League was a shower of shite,  teams in transitions and a bunch of Poundshop Peps stinking the gaff out. Teams seemed scared to lay a glove on them

Yeah but they've spent a lot of money on new signings and new contracts to get where they are now

Which is what makes it funny
