I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

As always with FIFA (and UEFA) too much of a good thing.

32 teams was plenty and worked well, 16 teams in the Euros was plenty and worked well.

There's going to be 4 games a day repeatedly, and it goes on from 11 June to 19 July. Not even in the height of my most World Soccer reading, global football geek, edit every single team on PES, even Thailand's away goalkeeper kit, days would I want that. It's too much!

But anyway, we'll go up to 64 teams soon.

I like the nations League but that can fuck off

I wouldn't mind if they'd won it

Or got to the semis

But there were in group c

Along with Slovakia, Estonia and Azerbaijan

So for winning that shit group they get a play off place

FFS

It's just daft, there will be 48 teams at the next World Cup......only 206 enter the qualification process, so that's near enough 1 in 4 getting there.

Even when the tournament starts, 48 teams doesn't really work properly, to be divided by 2 each time. So I've had a look.....12 groups of 4.....top 2 of each group qualify, then the 8 best third placed teams, which takes 32 teams though which works (32-16-8-4-2-1)

8 out of 12 third best placed teams?!?! -  fucking ridiculous. It's possible that 1pt could see you qualify, whilst that's not likely, it is likely that a team will qualify with just 2pts. Which just seems daft, that you can manage not win any of your first 3 games, and still go through to the next round.

how the fuck did Sweden get in?  they came bottom of their group with 2 points

edit

and I've just seen the Sweden manager is Graham Potter

WTF is going on

He made so much from his sackings he gave them a bung to get in the play offs

Italy will still miss out.

It's going to be great watching minnows like Curacao, Cape Verde & Scotland.

They do, but I'd be surprised if the ground looks anything like that when it eventually gets built. It'll be another identikit ground, like all the rest

Are they suddenly going to find 35k fans from somewhere, or is it going to be half full most games?

They beat Cameroon in the 1st group stage didn't they? (according to AI, which may be wrong)

Edit: yep, AI talking bollocks. They drew all three group games

I'm a Sky only bod, not TNT, so its a mix of that MOTD highlights show, the Tuesday game on Amazon Prime and walks down to the Dickens for me, won't change much with this move
