I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

We could even go top if Lincoln don't win away at Wycombe...

Or we could win and fall to 5th

That's confused me.  How?

Think it’s 4th now Stockport have lost.

Win and we go above Stockport and Bradford. But if Cardiff and Stevenage win by greater margins then they go above us on GD

Cardiff better our score and Stevenage do by 2 goals. We'd go above Stockport and Bradford anyway so maybe not.

Lets just get the win first .

Yeah, I'll take that.  4th but above Stockport and Bradford will do for now.

Does anyone really get excited about this?

I'll be concerned about where we are in the table on 1st May 2026 before we take on the Hatters.

The stars are aligning.

Goes to show that league position or form mean fuck all this season - tightest league in memory. Makes a mockery of all the cocksure confident predictions we have to endure every week.

And there’s no harm in just hoping our lads turn up and do the business every week - “hoping” being the key thing here.

Although it is pleasing that we’re just two points behind Stockport with a game in hand and a better GD now. A pleasant change from how we felt after losing at their place.

I wasn't too concerned when we lost at their place ( although I'd have preferred a win obviously).....we were the better team for most of the game and they scored with their only two attempts on target....... and we had players settling in and out injured.

We may or may not run away with this league but I wouldn't swap our squad or manager for any of the others.

Well when you consider just how much we’ve pulled back over the last month there’s no reason the way we’re playing that we can’t go on a good run and pull away as others beat each other. It was always going to be that way this year and we arguably have the strongest squad in L1 so there’s no reason we can’t.

Totally agree we have the players, manager, support…..all the ingredients for a good season, but I reckon that every team in the league has enough about them on their day to beat the top teams if the top teams don’t bring the extra quality, focus and drive week in week out. We shouldn’t be afraid of anyone but we have to respect them all, take nothing for granted and be absolutely ruthless.

Too many times in previous seasons it seemed like we dropped points against allegedly shit teams by not bringing our A game - even this season at Northampton we lost a game we should have been comfortably winning if Burstow and Forss had taken their chances.

Respect them all, take nothing for granted, be absolutely ruthless and we’ll be fine.

If the ref had seen Burstow be dragged back when about to knock one in from six yards we'd have won that game

It's just daft, there will be 48 teams at the next World Cup......only 206 enter the qualification process, so that's near enough 1 in 4 getting there.

Even when the tournament starts, 48 teams doesn't really work properly, to be divided by 2 each time. So I've had a look.....12 groups of 4.....top 2 of each group qualify, then the 8 best third placed teams, which takes 32 teams though which works (32-16-8-4-2-1)

8 out of 12 third best placed teams?!?! -  fucking ridiculous. It's possible that 1pt could see you qualify, whilst that's not likely, it is likely that a team will qualify with just 2pts. Which just seems daft, that you can manage not win any of your first 3 games, and still go through to the next round.

As we've seen with the Euros, 3 points often sees you through the group. So one win (or 3 draws in Portugal's case 2016). Just ruins the drama of the group stage - the final day of the Qatar groups was great with all sorts of yellow card permutations coming onto play
