Cheers! Had to double check they put speech marks on the song lyrics, without them it looks like I'm threatening the club haha!

Great quote, Marc.

Comparing careers not individual brilliance.

Who do you think did more for club and country?

Who did more for country? Gascogne by a long way. Gerrard was part of the overhyped 'golden generation' that achieved feck all beyond disappointment and realisation that the players weren't half as good as the media made out. Gazza played his part in two of England's best campaigns of the last three decades. I will always remember 1990, I will never remember any tournament Gerrard was involved in.

Regarding Frankie also would have been a Liverpool legend if he'd have not burnt candle at both ends even with Franks legendary excesses he played over 800 professional games and scored 260 goals and had a touch and vision and goal scoring ability Gerrard could only dream of. Gerrard great player but to many guilty of believing the scouse hype and love in.

Gerrard has scored 204 goals in 820 games for 1 club & his country @ 0.249 goals per game

Worthington scored 262 in 836 games for 24 clubs and his country @ 0.313 goals per game

Gerrard's goals came at Liverpool in the Premier League.

Worthington's goals came for Huddersfield, Leicester, Bolton, Philadelphia, Mjallby, Tampa, Leeds, Sunderland, Southampton, Brighton, Tranmere, Preston, Stockport & Weymouth, most of which were not top-flight goals.

Gerrard is a midfielder.

Worthington was a striker.

Only a die-hard Bolton fan with rose-tinted glasses could say Worthington was better than Gerrard.

Gazza bottled it when it mattered.

Gerrard stepped up to the plate when it mattered.

Gazza was pissing about playing for Everton and Hiroshima Fc whilst gerrard was winning champions leagues.

That is a bizarre assessment, if we're talking about playing for England. Gerrard was anonymous for England for the most part.

Gascoigne was centre stage in a world cup finals.

If we're talking about club efforts then fine, but Gerrard in that regard isn't even the most successful English midfield player of his generation.

That's why I said club and country.

Gazzas reckless behaviour cost his club and country at every opportunity at the highest level and his career fizzled out to nothing. Cup finals, world cup semi finals you name it his behaviour cost him.

He was immense in euro 96 but got that pissed and out of control in 98 he made himself unpickable.

The guys a failed genius IMO.

Gerrards honours, caps and big game performances speak for themselves.

But there are two discussions there. Who was the better player on the biggest of stages for England and who throughout their career was most consistent.

Gascoigne did piss his career away, but still produced more internationally than Gerrard.

And as for your last sentence, if we use those as a measure, Gerrard isn't even in the same league as Lampard.....

or even Phil Neville to a degreee

he did play for England more than them two, but they have more honors than him

Bottle it? The most memorable thing Gerrard has done since the 2006 FA Cup Final (against mighty West Ham)  is fuck it up against Chelsea to cost Liverpool the Premier League title.

I cant think of any standout moment provided by Gerrard in any World Cup Finals or European Championships.

Classy.

I always thought glassing women and kids was the work of Wigan fans only.

Low life scum.

Why cant they kick fuck out of some other thick wankers who want a fight?

Not innocent by standers.

Hope they woke up thinking they were big men. Cowarly cunts.

Gerrard is both a blessing and a curse for the side he plays in (England, or Liverpool).

When he plays well, the team plays well. When he doesn't, the team suffers. He's the most apt epitome of a modern "Roy of the Rovers". Everything the team does goes through him, which in turn makes him look like a world-beater.

As we've all seen though, he can bottle big games which (IMO) has stopped him being one of the world's greatest ever midfielders. I actually rate Fat Frank over Gerrard any day of the week.

Slipping = bottling?

He's been brilliant in massive games, more so than I can remember bad ones.

Agreed. he slipped, that's all.

Just like Terry did in the shootout.

I'm not saying Frank was better just pointing out that to virtually dismiss Frank Worthington in comparison to Gerrard was wrong. Your stats confirm that opinion Frank scored more goals in a similar number of games even though he played for lesser teams and most were top flight goals including winning the golden boot while playing in a struggling Bolton team, Frank Worthington was top top notch with more style in his little finger than Stevie G had in his whole body. I don't think I need to say anymore. Edited by Mounts Kipper

Your right he was a flash in the pan, over 800 games and 260 goals. Bad un.????

Kin ell mounts the biggest team he played for was probably Leeds.

Talk about white tinted spectacles.

I don't see what teams he played for matters, he should have played for a proper Liverpool team if he'd of passed his fitness test(high blood pressure I think) the man was a pure class footballer.
