burndenpaddock Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 You've missed out Sammy Lee and Gary Megson. So his hit rate is more like 33:66. In the business world, he would have been fired after Coyle. Quote

Perhaps, but football is a whole different type of business. Gartside probably doesn't have any better or worse record of appointing managers than most other chairman......unless of course most other teams always get promoted and win cups of course and therefore never sack their managers Quote

If only we had Whelan in charge Quote

If only we had Whelan in charge Maybe my tongue was wedged too much in my cheek to get the point across. Show me a chairman - anywhere - who has made 100% successful appointments, and I'll show you my wife's tits. Quote

It used to make me laugh how Whelan was lauded by a few anti Gartside on here. Is it worth me spending a few hours searching for the perfect chairman though? Quote
Carlos Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 The Brentford bloke has done ok so far, get them out. Quote
COYW Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Freedman did well when he first came.. Managers always do.. Better let Malky MacKay know then. Quote
COYW Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Show me a chairman - anywhere - who has made 100% successful appointments, and I'll show you my wife's tits. Huw Jenkins, Swansea's chairman. One promotion after another. League Cup win. Still in the Premier League. Quote

He's given us more good years than bad. There's only one person that can judge him and he obviously believes he's doing a good job. Just worth putting his good:bad appointment ratio in to perspective. Quote
Spider Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Huw Jenkins, Swansea's chairman. One promotion after another. League Cup win. Still in the Premier League. No champions league spot Which Gartside could and should have brought us. No tits Quote

Zico Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 You've missed out Sammy Lee and Gary Megson. So his hit rate is more like 33:66. In the business world, he would have been fired after Coyle. Only if his job is to appoint managers, and I'd say the megson appointment wasn't a failure as such He was a cunt but for the most part he did his job till he is was sacked at the right time and a manager was brought in who kept us up And I wouldn't call lennon a success yet unless it's just a popularity contest, which in the business world would be daft criteria for judging how good you are at your job (though ive no doubt this happens) Quote
frank_spencer Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Up until the stoke debacle Coyle was a runaway success. Talk on here of Gartside pulling a blinder by getting him the job at Burnley to earn his stripes. Fans were hopeful of Coyle going on to surpass even BSA's achievements. A lot of the things being said about lennon now we're said about Coyle and Freedman. Quote

land_and_sea Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Yeah right...like he has time to do all that & symphony away millions into his Swiss bank account! We'd still end up getting beethoven at home 3 nil. Quote

Spider Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Wait until clubs start making overtures towards Lennon. Seems there's very little symphony around for Gartside I think he's conducted himself well overall. Quote
Spider Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 As usual, it's just the same old names that harp on about it. Quote

kent_white Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Gartside will be pulling every string and covering all basses to keep Lennon here, even without any brass. If I were him this moaning woodwind me up. If he knew how much he was disliked, there would bound to be a re percussion. Erm..... triangle. Quote
Spider Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Lennon will turn things round Hopefully, bassooner rather than later. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 David Pleat would be a good replacement, he'd need plenty brass though. Quote
