Actually he said he was leaving to win trophies. City been truly dreadful in Europe and failed to even challenge in the weakest Premier League for years. Plus I'd say that a few of their best players from recent years seem to be getting worse rather than better. I wouldn't be that surprised if City have another trophyless season. Unless they break the bank for another 4 or 5 players. Which they could always do.

We're light years away from any kind of deal by the sounds of it...

 

However in a way it is good this is all public. Everyone will go into the new season with low expectations, and who knows we may be a bit of a surprise? If we did have loads to spend I'd be gutted if we were spending it on Downing anyway.

It's not really about Downing more the fact that a team in our league have the ability to fund this deal.

He's a decent player - but if I had £5,000,000 to spend in the Championship - it wouldn't be on Downing.

West ham fans must be glad to get rid.
