A coordinated terrorist act like that runs the risk of being stopped by Intelligence.

 

We've always had this issue, terrorists walking in to the UK. Remember the IRA? Granted ISIS seem proper hellbent on their cause.

The IRA weren't on suicide missions. ISIS / Al Qaeda soldiers don't seem too fussed if they escape or die in combat.

Russia seem to have ties with Assad and the west want him gone along with Isis

Both realise the need to get rid of Isis and the root cause for the refugees needs sorting.

 

Could we end up with the "west" and Russia in conflict after they have got rid of Isis together, either direct conflict ( which would probably be ww3) or an iron curtain cold War scenario again with the region being split into Russian backed/ west backed? With Kurds getting their own state but effectively a Russian state?

 

Could that iron curtain type situation be repeated or would the complex nature of the region make that impossible?

 

I have no idea, wondering what people thought of that possible scenario.

I get the distinct impression Russia are more than happy to stand by and wait until they can choose a side to fall on that allows them the best chance to claim back places like Moldova (specifically Transnistria), Crimea and some Other former States.
