August 18, 20224 yr Loved getting my argos and index catalogue just before Christmas to make my list. Spoilt little shit I was. Actually scrap that. I still am.

"We're here to ask for £150k for 5% of our new retail development, where we sell pretty much every electrical item etc that you can think of, but you're not allowed to see them until after you've paid." Well, i am oot Amazon beat you to it
August 18, 20224 yr Still buy loads online at Argos, as its cheaper than Amazon and I can pick it up at the local Sainsburys on my shop, as they've all moved into them.

August 19, 20224 yr But can Argos spy on your activities on your computer like Amazon can? Allegedly. Just kidding Jeff, just kidding.

Sainsburys own Argos now or the Sainsburys group more so. No brainer as you say.

A couple of doors up (towards the train station) there was also a small post office on the corner ... which was dead opposite a stationery place (Barry Bennett's), which was a tattoo place last I noticed.

Not genius, just good capitalist management. Another high street closure, another round of job cuts. Plenty of other jobs out there though.

Could be mistaken, but think before it was an Argos used to be owned by that Whelan fella who broke his leg. Had one of his supermarkets there in the early 70s with a sport shop (which eventually became JJB) upstairs. Think it was a large charity shop for a spell post Argos at some point. August 19, 20224 yr The shop on Newport St. was Battersby’s furniture shop. He was a director of BWFC. It then became Morrisons. When Morrisons moved to its present location it was taken over by Argos. That’s how I remember it.
