They're monitored, they're watched and it's all part of a bigger picture. 

Catching people with concrete evidence is tricky and often part of a much bigger picture, especially in a world where people shout "racist" and the blames flicked around whilst they cover up. 

I've no doubt some are legitimate businesses, but it's no coincidence that a large number of sweet shops, barbers etc have sprung up recently. That's always going to cause questions, and I'm not going to look for it, but it has been touted that some have been linked to gangs etc in the media. 

 

For example, 

Let's be honest, it's now pretty much impossible to be a taxi driver breaking the rules since the advert of user etc. These people who bent the rules have just found another avenue. I don't get then often but refused to get in one the other day as it had a Wolverhampton plate and the guy clearly wasn't the guy on the licence sheet.

If the police abided by your logic, they'd spend all their time just saying "where's your evidence?" to people reporting suspicious activity. Or asking people if their suspicions were based on ethnicity, or whether their eyelids were a bit different.

I was on the tube recently in london, loads of signs saying "report any suspicious activity". You must think that's an appalling thing to do. 

"Well, before you report it, weigh up WHY you are reporting it. Are you basing it on the colour of their skin? Are you basing it on whether they were born in Hackney or Baghdad? Question your moral compass, before you worry about a rucksack full of ball bearings"

Or, maybe, because members of the public got in touch to say something wasn't right. They may have had no concrete evidence, but movements and peoples behaviour led them to "feel" something was wrong.

I liked it. It’s a decent place to have a few beers. One of the better ones in town. Always seems busy as well which suggests it’s doing alright
