What conversations have gone in private? All I saw was Starmer praising Trump in public for his negotiations with Putin. Do you know something we don’t?

The EU deal with the US is not one sided, the US cant fulfill what they agreed to,  that was to sell the EU 140% of US energy production, that would mean that all the contracts which the US energy companies have all ready signed for the supply of LNG and oil would have to be ripped up, just to supply the EU and still be 40% short, the EU just listen to the bullshit that he spouted and just smiled, because they know that the US cant supply it , the just massaged his ego, smiled and walked away, nothing will come of it

We'll have to agree to disagree

I know only that there's a difference between the two

The way to deal with Trump is clearly to try and cajole him round to our point of view and I expect Starmer knows that too

I don’t remember any Prime Minister having to deal with a President like Trump. Starmer isn’t being ‘forced’ to do anything. It’s his choice. A bad choice from a weak leader in my opinion.
He could tell Trump that he’s wrong. He could tell Trump that Europe doesn’t agree with him. He could tell Trump that Ukraine deserves better than a bilateral peace summit that doesn’t involve Ukraine. He could but he doesn’t. He’s weak. He’s irrelevant.

Theresa May and Boris Johnson

happy to help

Of course every leader the world over has to suck up to Trump.  Sadly it’s the only way to influence (or in other words manipulate) the thin-skinned, egocentric tosser.

Meanwhile I’m getting the horrible feeling Zelenskyy is being set up for another ambush tmro. Seems a deal for peace was discussed in Anchorage….which unsurprisingly is exactly what Putin wants, reflecting all the concessions that Trumpy gave away 6 months ago. Whaddaguy. Definitely on Russia’s payroll.

It ain’t my wish. There isn’t anyone better, yet. (Keep an eye on Andy Burnham😉) It won’t stop me criticising though. Criticism has made him change his mind on a number of occasions. 👍

Absolutely.

As they would have been in the meeting between Trump and Putin (and their supporting crew).

I do think Starmer seems uncomfortable when with Trump in front of the camera and I'm certainly no fan, but on this it maybe appropriate to play on Trump's hubris.

Again, precisely what Trump may have done with Putin.

That's what I find a bit head scratching- Starmerphiles will say he's doing well with Trump, yet Trump is doing badly with Putin- being played etc.

We don't know the reality of the situations, but hopefully, the talks will come to fruition in a positive way.

Clues in the last word, surely?

We all saw what went on in public, and I agree entirely that he backs Trump's efforts to bring peace, publicly and privately.

I also reckon, that like an iceberg, there will be a lot more going on that we can't see.

As an aside- that statement you copied in a post above- is it genuine, because some words/phrases don't seem ministerial.

I have a suspicion that it is fake.

Yep. The thing I was pointing out was that people were jumping to conclusions about the peace talks and yet no one knows what was said in Private. Both Starmer and Zelenskyy seemed pleased with the efforts of Trump. The statement was direct from Starmer.

I’d be very happy to see Burnham in and around the top jobs.

Its a shame you didn’t criticise the Tories even half as much, they really did need some good advice.

That's for 2 main reasons.

1 - Starmer is the junior partner in the UK/US relationship, sadly. Trump isn't the junior partner in the US/Russia relationship - although he looks and acts like one.

2 - So far, Starmer has been getting results from that approach. Where as Trump has got nothing from a similar approach with Putin.

It's back to DT now. Does he put his money where his mouth is and re-sanction Russia as he's threatened to if there is no ceasefire. Or does he (once again) U-turn on his threats and promises (something Trumpamaniacs seem happy for him to do - but are you in arms when Keir does). Works both ways you see 😁

What utter twaddle. No one gets near the knighted U turn meister. No one.

The biggest one will become apparent at the next budget.

I'm sure both Starmer and Zelensky would rather Ukraine were provided with enough weapons to force Russia to retreat from any Ukrainian territory they currently occupy

They know that that's not an option though and so have to try and make the best of it, hence the calls for Zelensky to be involved in any negotiations

I thought this would be the case! 😁

Jesus compared to Trump who flip flops all over the place - Keir Starmer looks like an stubborn stalwart.

I just don't think you can see/admit it because of your own political bias.

I did but people don’t remember although I’ve always maintained that Labour would be worse. I still believe that. I wrote this in 2018. May was prime Minister and was replaced by Johnson. I voted for Johnson over Corbyn.
