44 Points

Seems we may have some fight in us

Beat Rotherham and I'm going 44 points to stay up

It's probably low historically but looking at the table that's my call

It's definitely doable

  • I reckon if we get more points than 3 other teams in our division we can stop up.

  • Imagine if the players had thought like that at 2-0 down last night.

  • if we can win sat, and bristol/charlton draw, then it's game on - but only if you forget what's gone on already this season, huddersfield was a kick in the balls and it was a good job really leeds wer

9/2 to stay up. I might have 10 bob.

Thing is you can present the facts to suit most outcomes.

IF we beat Rotherham on Saturday, we've effectively got a 16 game season, in a mini league with 5, possibly 6, also shit teams, most of whom will have about a 2 point head start on us.

We only need to collect points at 0.258 per more per game than our rivals to stay up now if we beat Rotherham it reduces to 0.06 points per game over the rest off the season that doable innit?

The thing I'm looking at is that it's taken us 29 games to amass 21pts  which is a whopping 0.72pts per game average  -  if we think 44pts is the magic number then we have to get a further 23pts from 17 games which is 1.35pts  -  so nearly double what we have achieved so far  -  basically a run of 4pts every group of 3 games should see us OK.............I think.

A loss on Saturday would make things incredibly difficult though - we simply have to beat the teams in and around us, whilst were below them, even a point isn't good enough really

I'm sure Malc will be along shortly with some formula or other with the many different possibilities

I'm clinging to the possibility of 40 points being enough. I don't see us getting more.

Whilst there is a chance though we have to hope.

But points only come in discrete lumps of 1 or 3.

Can't say I'm feeling the great optimism either to be honest.

It's a bit like getting back with a lass that's totally fucked you over for the past few years.

She might have a just made you a belting roast dinner, but deep down you know she's going to let you down again.

It's just a matter of when.

Beating MK dons and stealing a point at wolves is hardly grounds to suggest anything is going to be any different.

Hope I'm wrong, but Huddesfield is still fresh in my memory.

I think that's where I'm at.

At some point, we're going to need to win away to stay up.

3 wins under Lennon away from home, including day 1 when he diddn't pick the team, doesn't inspire any confidence.

Let's be optimistic - it's 4 away wins! Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff the other 3.

I forgot Millwall, sorry.

So fair enough, play offs here we come.

It's a crap total for number of games played. I'll settle for mid-table

same here, Huddersfield and Fulham were proper kick in the nuts for me

Failure to win on Saturday and its over for me. It is last chance saloon.

Still can't bring myself to feel anything other than doom. Felt it in phases all season, then Rotherham away nailed it home.

Hasn't changed yet. Prove me wrong, Wanderers.

Is it possible? Yes

Is it likely? No

We've had flashes of hope, but only to have our hopes dashed.

A team suddenly starts winning out of nowhere at this stage of a season, let's hope it's us

Who chose the team that day then?

Who chose the team that day then?

Dunno. Anewman?.

See, that's the bit i think you're wrong about

I think it does suggest it may be different

MK - We outplayed and outscored the opposition

Wolves  -we kept going, showed backbone and didn't crumble

Both different to the majority of the season

I still think we'll be shit in some games, and get dicked once or twice

And we aren't suddenly a good team

But that doesn't matter; scraping points in, in the other games does

We've now showed we are capable of it

Saturday is the acid test mind

Win on Saturday and we can do it.......just

Lose and it's a downward spiral

Who chose the team that day then?

At Birmingham?

Andy Hughes

I've not read all 70odd posts, but Bristol, Charlton and Rotherham are 6 pointers. We've only got to be the best out of the worst four sides and we live to fight another day. By far the stiffest opposition this season is the Taxman.

We will win and stay up. Woof woof

I reckon we've got a fairly good chance of staying up. Only because the teams around us are so poor I can't see them picking up much. Could be record low total to stay up. The big games are against the other three rubbish teams. Lose Saturday and I'll have a rethink though.

Rotherham H 3

Brighton A 0

QPR H 1

Birmingham A 0

Burnley H 1

Leeds A 0

Ipswich H 1

Preston H 3

Bristol City A 1

Reading H 3

Brentford A 0

Derby A 0

Middlesbrough H 0

Charlton H 3

Cardiff A 1

Hull H 0

Fulham A 1

18 points is realistic I'd say...need a couple of unlikely results and to stop drawing so many.

We will win and stay up. Woof woof
