The Diplomat. Two series released pretty much at the same time with the same title. One is Sophie Rundle working for the British Consulate in Barcelona. Watched the first two last night. Not bad at all. Doesn't someone on here have strong connections with Catalonia? They'd enjoy it for certain. Possibly a little lightweight with the Brit humour in there. We will find out as we get deeper into it. So far, looks 7/10-ish. The Merthyr Tydfil bootgirls were quite entertaining - especially for you rug muncher fans.

The second one is a US one about the ambassador to the UK. Much 'heavier'. Only watched a few minutes but shows promise.

Just on the Second one

vary good 4 in so far

Netflix documentary on the November 13 Paris terrorist attacks

There's one on Charlie hebdo too

Listening to the first hand eye witness accounts of what went down

Truly horrifying

The bataclan sounds like hell on earth

83 dead with bodies piled high in the mosh pit

Grim

Terrible events, seeing terrorists walking the streets of Paris with assault rifles was totally shocking. Some of the rumours of what went on in the Bataclan are despicable. They're kind of in urban myth territory though and lot of details were withheld from reports and inquiries so it's hard to tell what's true and what's not.

I remember being in a hotel in Edinburgh and turned the news for 10 minutes before bed just as the whole think was breaking. Ended up staying up for another two hours, thinking I’d put some movie channel on instead by mistake. Doesn’t even bear thinking about being in a similar situation.

I saw Eagles Of Death Metal one week before at Ritz in Manchester

for that I had a sense of empathy with those who were there

Probably wouldn't have been arsed had it been an Adele gig

@MancWanderer I've made a mistake! That's not the Jonestown documentary I should have suggested. It's mainly survivors recounting their experiences. THIS is the best one - a Storyville series from the BBC called 'Terror in the Jungle', but only available on youtube now. Apologies! My memory is fucked.

Did you watch this @MancWanderer? I re-watched it yesterday and it is even better than I remembered, in a grim sort of way.

The Storyville is the one

Makes Waco look like a picnic numbers wise

Fucking hell. Just. Fucking. Hell.

That whole story passed me by back in the day. It’s a long watch but the fact that they have all those videos and tape recordings

Blimey. Struggle to comment as there’s just so much…

Might have to re watch it

He's a fucking nut job

Love how he'd drug people, put them in casts, tell them they'd had a bad fall, then claim to cure them

Done the Waco and Boston Marathon documentaries on netflix

Knew the headlines and top level details

Wasn't aware of the man hunt post bombing and interesting to see the dynamics (fuck ups) made by the authorities at Waco

Both only 3 episodes, with a watch

Finally got round to watch the Boston Marathon one. Just did all 3 back to back

The bombing, the reasons, etc, are classic US stuff - just the back story

It’s the fuck ups following the bombing. The “let’s just let fly with as many bullets as possible” into the area where the suspect might be and, fingers crossed, none will enter a house and kill an innocent civilian. When the second suspect was hidden in the boat and anyone with a gun and a badge just turned up and unloaded their guns in a free for all

And all the “USA, USA, USA” shit

Blimey!! Overkill, excuses, and crying. Murica

Started series 3 of 'Guilt' last night. Watched first two episodes.

Enjoyed the first two series and had forgotten this was out so cheers for that.

Started Silo last night, might have a bit of potential I think.

Finished Frasier, so now to Cheers, season 1 not a patch on Frasier.

Agreed.

Found cheers pretty disappointing after getting through the Frasiers

Watched Cheers when it was first broadcast. Watched it back again in full during lockdown. Loved it. It’s a definite build

Hated everything about Frasier. Couldn’t get into it. He was great as a bit part in Cheers. His own series? No thanks

Possibly depends on which you watched first?

Absolutely loved Cheers when I was a kid, as it was always on really late, and I had to sneakily watch it when I was supposed to be asleep. But like you, Frasier never clicked for me.

Bit of a tangent, but I've never been able to get this out of my brain. There's a tiny, barely-audible 'quack' noise 2 seconds into the theme tune that I first heard ~30 years ago and wasn't able to un-hear it everytime I watched it. I thought it was just some mad thing my child-brain invented, until I listened to it again on youtube a few years ago.
