  • Benedict Cumberbatch played Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, he's not even a proper bummer.

  • Not quite a show… but the missus has fallen asleep mid program; I do it all the time, just watch on… she doesn’t agree. She’s now fallen asleep 3 times during last 10 mins of episode of Outlaws.

is there any point at all to this question. Really, genuinely curious.

Yes. Are you unable to answer it?

Which character "obviously wouldn't have been black" in this fictional drama that has rubbed you up the wrong way?

Is this your first encounter with Monsieur Fromage?

I should know better

Everyone says that when they can't answer a simple question because they know it'll make them look daft. It's not even a difficult one. You could just google it.

it's a stupid fucking question.

maybe you've just misunderstood every post so far.

why not explain "the point" of your question.

When are they remaking Zulu with 4,000 pasty-looking scrawny gingers, eh?

There is no "point" yet, just a simple question. How many black actors are in the TV programme that Bolty thinks had too many? You agreed with him, so you must know?

24 minutes ago, wakey said:

ah, thank you.

If there's a case that black kids are more engaged / more likely to engage with historical fiction if they see people who look like them, then that's a fair argument. The more kids interested in history the better in my view, and i will happily swallow my history-snobbery for the greater good.

You should have told that contrary fella a while back, might have saved some tedious posts.

On the flip side

In that Prince Of Persia example I gave earlier, Disney chose Jake Gyllenhall over an Iranian actor

When asked why, they said they can't sell a film with an unknown actor as the lead

Entertaining audiences comes before accuracy when it come to film and drama

It was shite that film, as most film adaptations of computer games are.

Mortal Kombat, Mario, Tomb Raider

I enjoyed the recent Mario with crisp ratt as Mario. It was nothing exciting but a fun family film to watch with my lad.

yeah I loved Mario, I took my daughter to the cinema so I could see it, not her, and I wasn't dissapointed

I can only assume he means the Bob Hoskins one from the early 90s

To be fair I've not seen it past the first 10 mins. The Bob Hoskins one was pants.

We should all agree on everything all the time, and independent thought should be punishable by death.

Rewinding back and ignoring fuck knows how many pages of shite, just watched this episode of 24 Hours in Police Custody

Wow!! That cunt is so worrying. How many others like him are there? I suspect very many. And the folk that ‘defend’ him. Fuck me. Pure evil

Omid Djalili was fuckin' fumin'

if so aye

but that was a low budget indie film that wasn't made to sell and make money - 4.5M budget, made 7.5M

PoP was Disney, they spent 150-200M and made 336M

but producers and audiences more likely woudln't bother with it if the lead was Iranian

big names sell big movies

Id fucking love to see him front a $200m action film playing the buff dream boy role and every one in the film refusing to acknowledge he's a fat old man. Apart from the main villain who just gets more and more angry that no one notices.
