Let's hope he carries on in that vein.

Was excellent yesterday.

Didn't have to challenge for a header though 😁

Apart from the one he won to assist the unjustly disallowed goal.

FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Not exactly lusty, we’ve also signed good experienced players like Dalby Davies Hardie Famewo and Rodrigues so for me we’ve got a nice mix.

Yup, always expect to have experienced players around a young group. I was just alluding to the fact we have 14 registered players aged 25 or under if you include the likes of Inwood, Warren and Temple out on loan. Plus we seem to try to loan youngsters with a view to trying and buying eg ACD, Kenny, Ibby and currently Iling Jnr. Dalby is only 26and Taylor will be in a couple of months. I was wondering if the current younger crop could continue to improve and be retained to grow together, whilst recycling the older hands until they’re no longer required?

He only won the header after shoving the defender in the back TBF.

Seen McAtee linked with Cardiff, Barnsley and Sheffield W on the socials this morning...

Frank gives the correct answer below.

Stupid boy (McAtee, not you 😁).

Tbf, I thought he pushed him live, but he really just put his hand on him, didn't he.

We'll see way worse than that let go this season

Difficult one, considering he's in his final year

Do you offer him a new one and hope he continues playing like he did on Saturday or get some money for him

Edited by 1969

Depends on what the offer, if it exists, is

Charlton and Lincoln also interested, could be a bidding war.

Had it been the other way around, a ref isn't giving a striker a penalty for it.

Definitely but it's enough of a push for the red to blow

One of our fairly recent signings- JDB- has retired. Aged 34.

No more thunderclap!

All the best to him.

Should of retired three years ago really. Always put a good shift in for us, good luck JBD.

reckon injuries have just gotten to him. I know he struggled keeping match fit with us and then after.

Played more games for us than any other club too!

No, we’ve seen enough of Macca by now to know he’s not it and however brilliant on Saturday it won’t last. Get rid now while he’s in demand and use the cash for someone better. Keeping him is a risk we can’t afford at the moment.

Edited by Whitesince63

It's a bit of a tricky one because if he can continue to perform how he did at the weekend - a big if - he'd could be useful as a back-up to RR

We might find it difficult to replace him with someone willing to play that role for the fee we might realistically get

I'd have thought getting rid of him is a risk we can't afford at the moment. At this rate it would be Randall as a stand in no.10.

Course I'd love us to sign someone better, but if Hardie isn't exactly risk-free, and RR clearly isn't, having a McAtee seems the ideal scenario for us. We aren't going to get a back up striker that's better unless its an untested kid on loan that may or may not work. If we sign a Kenny or Dean they'll expect to start regularly, McAtee showed last season he's comfortable with the stand in role and probably be happy to do that in this league.

if he was still at barnsley, old sincey would be telling us how we need to sign him

fwiw, if he could repeat saturday a few times, hes worth so much more than we could sell him for

I'm giving my eyes a rub here. Reading people saying how McAtee is worth keeping & even offering a new contract.

Tricky one with Mcatee.

If it was right to try and sell him before Saturday, then I can see the POV that that shouldn’t change after seeing him have a good game.

But I think I’m on the side of that unless you are replacing with much better then he stays.

And judging that now does IMO change, especially if he backs that performance up in the next couple of weeks.

I did say a few weeks ago, there may be one or two surprises from players we weren’t expecting in terms of fitting into the Championship - and Mcatee may just be one of those players.

It’s not even an if though is it because he’s never played as well as Saturday and there’s nothing to say he will again. As the old saying goes if ifs and ands ……….. If we can recover our costs I’d snap a buyers hands off.

Tbh if a club meet the price we want he will be gone.

Definitely.

But it was an obvious hand on the back ref couldn't miss it and he gave it straight away.

Nothing in it at all though.

Tbf, thought ref was ok, better than the shockers we've had in division 3

It is literally an if

We're also likely to find ourselves in a position where we have to try and hit teams on the break more often this season, which I think probably suits his game a bit more

I'd sell if we were offered seven figures but less than that and it's not as clear cut as it seems
