FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

Football fans have always been, and will always be, fickle. Just the way it is.

Regardless how this window ends, some fans will be unhappy.

Personally, I am looking forward to Saturday and let those who actually get paid to do our transfer business get on with it.

If it's not agent games - get Macca gone and off the wage bill - fair play to him for improving recently, but respectfully we can do better. He's a free agent in the summer so we'd probably barely get anything so it's weighing it up against keeping him for rotation this season. If it frees up £5-10k a week that can be put to good use elsewhere, I'd hope Fergal would take that risk.

Gale was hit and miss last season, he might be more useful this year, possibly gets more space in this division with less teams camping 10 men behind the ball. He could do with toughening up a bit, but a very useful outlet with his pace.

Any chance some Saudi club with more money than sense can take Randall off our payroll? I fear he's destined to be loaned out for pennies while seeing out his contract to 2028.

Hoping that Kenny or Dean sign and we get a loan wildcard. Be happy with that and think we'd be set until January where we can take stock and look at where best to reinforce.

We have the most deluded fan base going. Mcatee has had one good game and suddenly we have to keep him. Hes been awful and has one year left on his contract. Everyone would have sold him before sat.

Fan base needs to wake up rather than seeing everything game by game. It’ll be a long season otherwise. Watch us lose Saturday and everyone lose their heads.

While your point has some merit, like @tomski and @Lt. Aldo Raine said, in no way is this just a #bwfc issue.

Football fans in general are like this, some actually a lot worse than us. You only have to listen to talk sport for 5 mins.

But you are right. And I think it’s getting worse. Reality TV and the sport fan version of this, Talk Sport, have heightened this clamour for instant gratification and click bait controversy which is expressed with such adamant certainty, only to change the week after.

So the Mcatee scenario is a good version of this. For me, the reality will be somewhere in the middle. Those who know best are SS and his team, I’m happy to let them make the decision in an informed way which will take into account not only the immediacy of the situation, but also the longevity, finance and other options available/unavailable if we do replace him.

One thing I am pretty certain of is SS won’t be at either extreme.

He’s not saying “Listen, he’s fucking awful, I don’t care if he’s in good form and we are starting to see the best of him, we are getting rid”

Similarly he’s not saying “Listen chaps I know we’ve all agreed Macca has to go and we’ve got a good deal lined up, but let’s fuck that off because he had a cracking game Saturday didn’t he?”

Issue is.. Isolate how he's played in the last 5 competitive games as I did before..

If we saw a player with this stats we would be frothing at the mouth to sign him... "Get the cheque book out" etc..

If he wants to stay let him, we can always let him go in January.

Kenny or Dean isn't happening, it would have by now.. The only player we had a long inkling about was Luca Stephenson everything else has been done quickly and quietly..and it's pretty clear ACD is now off the cards.. Kenny and ACD did what we asked last year.

My tuppenny for what its worth over Mcatee is that he is inconsistent and today getting into his third year of his contract i have no idea what his best position. I think the club owes him nothing but also he owes us nothing. Tries hard and the play-offs have paid a big lump off his transfer fee. He is not going anywhere while RR is injured, Randall is out in the cold and i am happy for him to move on or stay. SS and Harkin will do what is right for the club

Not sure on that…

Plenty of deals still to be done yet across the EFL/EPL.

And one or two more for us I expect.

No reason why these deals, or any others, won’t go to the wire.

re Kenny

not sure if he's still not fit, but he's not featured in a league or cup game yet

they've got a CL qualifier this week and next by which time they'll know what their season looks like

if he gets to deadline day and still isn't getting a game he'll be off somewhere I reckon

as for Dean, gent knows he wants out and placed a value on him, it's now on them to decide how much value he has if they keep him, again that may change the closer you get to deadline day

Agree on both of those. I think any deals for either, if any, will happen at the end of the window but even then I doubt we’ll be the only ones interested. Waiting is obviously a risk but I’d hope Fergal has a good idea of what chance we have in reality and will have other irons in the fire too just in case. I’m not expecting much activity before then so we’ll just have to be patient and trust management to see us sorted.

I don’t think I’ve seen McAtee in better physical shape than he is now and his attitude and application appear to have improved massively - and these are the things that have let him down in the past, so comparing him with how he was in League 1 for valuation purposes is a bit irrelevant. I agree he is unlikely to be moved on right now, and with this improved attitude he may even become our best player.

If, however, a good money offer does come in and moving him on fits with our plans, I’d be grateful to him for doing everything he can to maximise our income rather than adding to the dead weight.

Its very relevant.....what we have seen over 2 years is a more reliable barometer than what we have seen in one game.

Agree with this and if we get a good offer then I think we'll sell

1 very good game does not wipe out all the shit for the past 2 seasons, but it is a step in the right direction

End of the day, if the right offer came in for any of our players then they would be gone.

FWIW my thoughts are now, two more loans last week of transfer window.

Nail biting stuff.

I'm not adding to the McAtee debate any more, and I agree with what you say, but I'm puzzled by the question over his best position? He came as a striker/no.10 same as Collins, Kenny etc. He's played there for as long as I've seen him ( Barnsley and here) hasn't he? Scores and creates consistent with a striker/no.10 rather than a CF like Dalby. But his natural position is striker not like other so-called no.10s like Randall etc who's a midfielder.

You lost me on Randall a midfielder 😃

That's logical but if we get £1mil offers in the last 2 days of the window for first teamers, they can only go if replaced and judging by how long that takes I'd say they're going nowhere. Imagine Forino, Sheehan and Dalby leaving on 31st Aug and us counting the money rather than the points till January.

They are still after Braga from Hearts by all accounts, so I think if that gets done there's simply no more room for Kenny.

I still don't like they we seem to be hanging around waiting for him to figure that out though.
