Evatt didn't say, just that someone else had. It's a post above.

Back to the worth- seems more than one club offered the cash and we accepted, so that would define his monetary value.

His playing value to us may be more, time will tell.

Quite

It was mantras copy of a bwfc statement. I reckon I've probably mis interpreted the statement- it was probably just referring to the BCFC bid.

There transfer strategy does seem like a bloke playing Championship Manager  -  I heard that the reason a lot of their new deals are over 6, 7 or 8 years is that it gives some sort of workaround to the FFP, as they actually pay the fees over a long period of time. It does though mean should they get another Winston Bogarde situation, then it'll be very, very costly for them.

With no Europe this year, I actually think Chelsea will sneak 4th place this time, and I suspect they have to get CL, or the shit will hit the fan for them

For FFP the fee gets broken down over the length of the contract, so an £80m player on an 8 year contract effectively costs them £10m a year

However if you sell a player the fee gets credited in total for the season that they sold in

So if they managed to shift that lump Lukaku for say £80m this season, they may not breach FFP

Next year could be different but they have half a million players out on loan they could sell

They could do with getting shot of Lukaku that's for sure, but they have recouped a shit load in the past couple of months:

Loftus-Cheek c£15M

Mendy c£15M

Koulibaly c£20M

Kovacic c£25M

Mount c£50M

Havertz c£60M

Pulisic c£20M

That lot there is well over £200M......but I bet their net spend is still around £500M in the past 12 months or so, since Boehly took over. If some of those larger fees are spread of over 5, 6 or 7 years, then they may not be in too much bother yet......but failing to qualify for the CL will see them in the shit I'd have thought.

Their wage bill must be fairly interesting

Think uefa are trying to clamp down on this rule so for FFP its worked out over 5 years regardless of the length of contract

Hmm not to sure about vic but anyway I don’t think Stoke or watford would be enough to tempt him, he may think hang it out to summer then see

Watford are a top six Championship team. I'd be amazed if he turned that down. Hopefully we don't get to find out.

A similar situation to Thomason really.

If they're confident in our credentials, then we should be in the same league next time round.

Not sure Watford will get up to the prem.

I read that too. Let's see.

I initially couldn't work out these mega-long contacts. Of course, the chances of a host of players doing a Winston Bogarde increases rather.

Thought Bogarde was more Chelsea bought an over the hill player, paid him a lot of money, rarely played him and were shocked to find he wasn't keen on a transfer

Fleetwood wasnt it??

It was. Some hard knock (not Vela) had been putting himself about most of the game. We scored & he really gave him some.

Could come back to bite him tomorrow of course.

I find Thomason wanting to stay slightly emotional in this day and age - the lad has turned down better money/personal terms to continue his development here. A lot of players move on and say nice things about our club - but they still f*** off.

It is testament to the management team to have earned that kind of loyalty from a player in this mercenary age.

Love the lad for responding to that. That said, he'd better start fulfilling that potential as we could have used the money :)

Dion would be mad to go to Watford they sack managers every few months he could end up with a manager who doesn’t rate him! As for Stoke can’t see it tbh.

Simon Jordon explained it pretty well today.

They are in credit currently and nowhere breaching anything, for now at least.

All about the depreciation value etc.

Great business tbf....if they get success on the back of it.

Not the first time, Clough rejected them as well if I remember correctly. He's bound to be settled here, has a manager who loves him & feels like he's developing every day under our regime. We'd have been silly not to accept that offer for him as he isn't a current key player & I'd have liked to see who we could have brought in whether now/Jan with some of the dosh considering we got Morley/Dempsey/Dion combined for around half a mill but can't force him to go. Hopefully he goes on to have a breakout season with us & helps us get autos.

As I can't see Bristol City pushing for the top this season, If he and his current team keep playing as well as they have started this season, he's likely to end up at a mid table championship club next year anyway

I can't make even the faintest of comments. Quite literally never heard of him. I hope he's World class and we get him to Bolton.

But nothing in his 'pedigree' apart from an apparently vg season last year, suggests it.

Pedigree's not the be all and end all, though

Before he singed for us, Dapo had had a spell in Canada, a spell in non-league, failed trials at Wigan Athletic and elsewhre, and a failed loan spell at Oldham Athletic and Mansfield Town and yet he did alright

Is it just me who finds the way the club dealt with this a bit strange?

I don't really understand why they needed to make any public comment at all once the bid was received

I get the impression they thought Thomason would accept the move and are now compelled to address it having previously gone public on Saturday

As an aside, we have some right thick cunts following us

But I'm pleased he's staying with us; hopefully he continues to improve

They were right bitter arseholes about Clough

I remember the Saturday after he turned them down - or maybe the first time we played them afterwards - when their official club Twitter account gloatingly quoted a chant from their supporters mocking him

"Zach Clough, what's the score?

Zach Clough, Zach Clough, what's the score?"

I think the word got out that a bid had bee  made.

Once that happens. They either front up or refuse to speculate.

Although they could easily offer him five times his current salary.....so he'd arguably be mad not to go, should the opportunity arrive. At nearly 28 years old, he may not get too many more opportunities to play further up the pyramid

Was pleased when I saw GT wanted to stay. It's clearly a sign of a footballer with a good attitude and a level of loyalty. More than that though it's a sign of a player valuing the stability we have at the club at the moment. It counts for such a lot and we can't honestly say we've had it since Big Sam left. In fact it modern day football its a rare commodity and we should value it.

I hope we can now watch him develop further and ultimately become a Championship player with us. He's going to improve month by month.

Really pleased with GT staying, we already knew he was a good character & he goes up in my estimation for putting his longer term development ahead of shorter term more money.

Lets hope he continues to improve on the pitch.

Assuming he’s turned down a decent pay rise, so a risk, but must be confident in his ability.
