Delighted for GT, convinced he’s made the right decision, clearly got his head screwed on. The whole environment around the club and the way IE and his team coach these players, it must be a great place to be for a young player to learn his trade.

I'm unconvinced Charles would succeed in the Championship

They could do with getting shot of Lukaku that's for sure, but they have recouped a shit load in the past couple of months:

Loftus-Cheek c£15M

Mendy c£15M

Koulibaly c£20M

Kovacic c£25M

Mount c£50M

Havertz c£60M

Pulisic c£20M

That lot there is well over £200M......but I bet their net spend is still around £500M in the past 12 months or so, since Boehly took over. If some of those larger fees are spread of over 5, 6 or 7 years, then they may not be in too much bother yet......but failing to qualify for the CL will see them in the shit I'd have thought.

Their wage bill must be fairly interesting

Think uefa are trying to clamp down on this rule so for FFP its worked out over 5 years regardless of the length of contract

Apparently they were exploiting a loop hole UEFA have now closed but the PL haven't

No issue this season because they aren't in Europe

But might be next season

Dunno what will happen then a one thing is for sure

They might have given Caciedo an 8 year contract but Brighton won't be getting £115m over 8 years, it will be two or three installments if not all at once

Dion being linked with Stoke and Watford...

Dion suits Evatt's playing style and is valued here for his workrate as much as his goals plus we're starting to see glimpses of what could become a successful partnership with Victor - so it would be a risk for him to move on just now.

I'd be disappointed if he went in this window for a pay rise - even more so if he stayed but used the publicity to lever more money out of us. Ultimately though we're a business.

Imagine a transfer window where Charles leaves for £750k and Thommason turns down a £1m move

Do you reckon either of those clubs would offer £750000?

Harry Macguire's move to Wet Spam collapses.

Apparently his wage in East London would be less than that in Stretford (esp. After their first team got a raise for getting a European Cup spot) so wants a £7m pay-off for leaving early to make up for that.

A fully fledged member of the greedy twat brigade then.

Will some unheard of, unpronounceable Arab mob come in for him ?

To be fair, if someone asked me to move to another job and take a massive pay cut, I’d say “thanks but no thanks”.

Looks like GT has done just that.

Double kick in the nuts. No £1m and now we’ve had to use up some of the wage budget on our 5th choice cm who already had a 3 year contract.

Oh and our fan base now think he’s the second coming because he turned down a move.

I wouldn't have described Al-Hilal or Al-Ahli as unpronounceable

Or the club felt it is in their best interests to do so?

Do you really think he's gone and said "I'll stay, but only for more dosh"?

Quite simply silly, and doesn't stand up to scrutiny- the club had accepted the offer, so were happy to let him go. Hardly suggests they were open to a touch of blackmail!

Focusing on the point. Well done.

I bet they don't say it like we do.

Indeed, though the question is more around the figure. If GT can get an offer of £1m, then you'd anticipate a striker banging plenty in would perhaps attract a bid somewhat bigger.

Anyway, let's hope if doesn't happen.

So what happens tonight - do we boo him if he comes on as a sub??

Ben Foster mentioned this on his Podcast, not about GT it was a while ago.

If a player turns down a move its sort of standard etiquette that you offer them a new deal.

That fact that its took about 12 hours from him turning them down to him signing a 5 year contract tells me it was a very, very straight forward process.

What a bizarre take from the situation.

I suspect the 'never a footballer while he has a hole in his arse' mob will hover over every misplaced pass, scuffed shot or off centre throw in even more than previously.

we have some proper idiots supporting us....
