Really? There's a lot of talk about us not paying over our valuation for players and holding out for the right players at the right price, but I'm struggling to see where that valuation came from unless Randall's skills are deemed ideal for the new system. We have bids in for Armstrong, Dembele and McAtee - and maybe others - and maybe we're just after any one of them rather than all of them? Randall deal not completely dead (despite the info the club feed Iles). They want him to sign a new contract, and prefer to sell him to someone other than a promotion rival. They are also keen to avoid a Clarke Harris situation where they lose him for nothing. It's unlikely to happen, since we won't wait around until the end of the window to find out in this case, but not dead! Fully expect Armstrong and McAtee to happen next week. Quote

You said you're struggling to see where the valuation comes from. We don't know what the figure even is! Moreover, its bleeding obvious where our valuation comes from- simply how much Evatt etc want him and what value to the team, and the overall budget, etc etc. In other words our club will decide on what they value him at. They could be relatively huge amounts and would surely make the difference between them being a "selling" club and being able to splash the cash. Its never sat right with me that a player moving from say Brentford to Arsenal could change the fortunes of a L1 club. But if he stays at Brentford for 1 more season, that club get nothing. Another club will have made more money out of a far worse player than Toney, just because he happened to move on before his contract expired. If I was the Posh owner I'd be phoning those 2 players every day persuading them to move! Quote

It was "seven figures" according to Iles. I suspect he means over a million rather than £11,147.69 Quote

masi 51 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Nobody in their right mind would bid over a million on Randel in his last year of his contract.......And likewise a bid over a million is not being turned down. Calling Bollox on that Quote
Whitesince63 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Didn’t Posh pay £2m for him two years ago though and will no doubt want to get a good chunk of that back? Quote

Steejay Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 If Randall was any good, Posh would be offering him a new contract but that doesn’t seem to be happening. 500k tops or move on. Quote
