Nobody is moaning you prick just discussing his previous stats

Is it really necessary to call him a prick? He’s offering an opinion, much like yourself and other people on here. Why make it personal?

You literally just said it whiffs of a stitch up and you’re struggling to see what managers see in him. The word ‘moaning’ may be semantics, but you and one of two others are assuming the worst!

"Struggling to see" is completely different from "assuming the worst".

I just don't know what they see in him because I haven't seen enough of him to make my own mind up yet.

If mcatee does sign maybe just maybe it's not about the individual but how he fits into the team

Hopefully. He has a similar physique to Lolos who has started well for us and it may be recruiting for a specific role in the 343 / 3412 or whatever it's best described as.

Fact is we just don't know yet, but I think it's fair enough to have concerns given his low goal return and the fact that he's never played higher than one season in League 1.

Unlike Premier League Dan :)

Now I find this interesting as I think we often sign the individual over a fit.

You reckon he can play LWB ?

Absolutely. I've been thinking about where Armstrong would fit in the new set up. He can play left or right but apparently although he's primarily a winger, he has been used deeper - haven't seen him play there though. Would have to be a left side attacking role for me I guess.

Anyway, he’s had some stick in the past, including from me, but I thought Vic had a decent game last night, and against a top quality team.

He got the goal that his play deserved and if he carries on like that, he’ll quieten down a lot of critics.

Yeah we can think of a few examples of this. Mendes Gomes and Nlundulu being good examples. Don’t know enough about Mcatee other than his brothers highly rated.

Surely someone is going if he’s in as we will have a lot of attackers. Based on lolos being a forward too?

asked a grimsby fan i know about McAtee as to what sort of a forward he is:

He’s a number 10 really. He pretty much dragged us to promotion out of the National League. Loves a big game and has plenty of swagger/attitude.

This game pretty much sums him up

In short doesn’t for the system. May fit the 433 he loves to play but won’t.

We are basically trying to be Brentford but in a wish format. Signing folk to make money but not playing them in positions we can make money on them.

nlundulu is the most mental signing ever. Does nothing on loan and signed. Still amazes me

I'm with you on this - slightly bemused as to why we would need him and TBH it even has the faint whiff of a stitch up. I've seen plenty of his little brother James who is a top player - very similar in style to Armstrong - but I'm really struggling to see what some managers see in John.  I presume that the club has done the usual due diligence and I've no doubt that Rob Edwards has given IE the lowdown but ATM I'm struggling to get past the low goal return even at a lower level - the highest he's played is one season in League One and he's 25 now.

If we do sign him I really hope he proves the doubters like me very wrong.

Not long ago you were claiming that signing McAtee would make you less concerned about our chances next season, now you are concerned because we might be signing him as he isn't good enough

Where does he play this lad? Briefly remember the name from when we played them but couldn’t tell you much about him.

Am I right in thinking he’s a striker? If so then one of Vic or Dan are definitely off, probably Dan.

I think he's a No. 10
