Hasn’t he signed for Stevenage or am I mixing him up with someone else?

Signed for Stevenage yesterday

Things I like about this:

- scored 15 goals for them in the SPL, also making the divisional team of the year.

- the 6ft 3ins striker also netted seven of his 15 goals with his head

- he can be the focal point Bolton’s attack lacked at times last season.

- He also had the second-highest number of aerial duels won per game by any striker in the SPL last term

Things I don’t like about this:

- He scored 15 goals on loan in a godawful league.

- Jack Iredale was probably the best left-sided defender in said league, despite not being good enough for Bolton (that might say more about Evatt, to be honest).

- Scott Arfield scored 9 goals at 1 every 96 minutes, after leaving us to go to the team who won the Scottish Championship, and will be playing in the same league, next season.

- Prior to the loan, he scored 7 goals in 73 games for Wrexham … in the National League and League 2!

I usually try to be positive on here, but I’m struggling to get excited by this speculation. I really was looking forward to us pushing the boat out for a proven 9 (our number one target, or should be) at this level, or higher.

To be fair every time someone speaks about him you come on here all full of itk wisdom and saying what you know from discussions with him. Always very supportive & dissing overt criticism.

It depends on the definition of 'spaffing' I guess but that definitely seems a bit spaffy.

Better than slagging him off at every opportunity when not knowing the facts

Imo, of course

How many proven number 9s are kicking about though?

Unless we are chucking silly money about like Brum for Alfie May and Lisa Stansfield.

Who's proven who'd be available?

Not having a pop here BTW, I'm the same, I wish we were getting a clinical 6ft 3 number 9 with a massive cock but I'm not sure there's that many about in division 3.

I know the facts, The Bells tells them us every time someone mentions him. Being on personal terms with him and all that.

Reading some of the Wrexham opinion, Daley doesn’t press/run around and has no pace. Sounds like an excellent signing 🫣

He might be good. He might be bad. We will know by may next year.

That’s the problem. Your desire to fulfill a homoerotic fantasy is distinctly narrowing the range of available candidates. 😉

Seriously, we’ve just recruited a Sporting Director and Head of Recruitment. It’s their role to identify suitable and affordable candidates.

I, and all fans, will have a view on their suitability to fulfill the role. My view is that we have we have a number of exciting youngsters in attacking positions, such as Abimbola, Lawrence and Lewis, any of whom may or, more likely, may not break through. I don’t want their pathway blocked by another Adeboyejo, Nlundulu, Kachunga or Bakayoka. Push the boat out for an experienced and proven 9, who might also have a longer-term coaching aspiration, and support the youngsters. A younger, more prime, Jerome.

As I said above, identifying that person is the job of Fergal and his team.

He only started in thirty odd of those

The alternative point of view is that he's served something of a long apprenticeship and then done well enough when given an opportunity as a starting centre forward at another club

If he can be a focal point up front, make it stick, and play others in, he doesn't necessarily have to be the most prolific of scorers

Parky knows a thing or two about target men and offered him a new contract last season

Let's just see

Odd as I’ve a few mates that are Wrexham fans and they really rate him.   I suspect they’re slating him because he’s opted out of the Wrexham hype and wants out so they’re going to say he’s crap.

SKD was hardly prolific and was a massive part of our glory years 👍

I'm kind of in on to the Dalby signing now. 6 ft 3, holds the ball up well. Can play on his own or with a partner. Free transfer with reasonable wages. Ticks the boxes. He does need service to score though. Good balls in to the box. I think it depends on the wide players we sign as to whether he's a success.

There is goals in this team with Mcatee and Collins and potentially Dalby. Mcatee and Collins will both suit playing off him too. People can slag off Mcatee till they are blue in the face but he got double figures without really hitting top form. Colilns is a 15 goal plus league 1 forward.

Wingers next please fergal. Wingers and some proper centre Halfs. Annoys me that Blackpool got that Horsfall from Stockport. Fucking good league 1 defender him. On a free too.

I have no idea just how good Dalby is and its difficult to translate his Dundee Utd performances in to our league. However the type of player he is provides an insight in to what SS and co have in mind.

I'm wary of his goalscoring record at Wrexham but there are very likely to be reasons for that. SKD's goalscoring ratio per appearance was hardly stellar but what a good un he was in the role was used him in. I can remember looking at Lukas Jutkiewicz's goals per game stat when we got him on loan in 2014 - didn't look good. Again he was great for us played in a specific role that suited him.

Let's sign him, then let's give him a chance.

One thing is for sure though if we are opting for a style of play that needs a Dalby type we need another similar in the squad or else the whole thing falls down when SD is injured/suspended etc.

Wrexham fans only started following them a few year back. Not overly concerned on their opinion. Excluding the 1500 or so who watched them before of course.

Fair enough if that is what you was saying......He is 22 now but because they have had hin from being a kid it will go to a panel.

Hence why they agreed a fee without going to said panel

Fair enough if you was on about Roughan,   He is 22 now but because he has been with them since he was a teenager it goes to a panel and they would receive a fee.
