If Southwood goes get Scott Carson in

Evatt claims he made the decision of course.

For clarity, this is info I was told… face to face … by someone who attends board meetings. And after the half time swearing at fans incident, joined Nick L in telling Sharon it couldn’t carry on.

It's a transfer thread on the BWFC section of a BWFC forum, you fucking moron. Are there not any LFC forums where you can post shite about LFC?

And the poacher turns gamekeeper...........

We’ll it’s Friday in a week where certain media folk were suggesting there’d be transfer action so Im hoping for good news today.

Absolutely not expecting anything though. My gut feeling is that we’re getting one or two in and several out before the window shuts - and that’s fine if the quality improves.

Well they’re off to Spain for the next week so little will probably happen for the outs but hopefully Fergal will still be working on the ins so we may see movement on that. It doesn’t look like Southwoods move to Bristol is happening which is a shame because it would have been another reduction in the wage bill and I must confess I haven’t heard of any other of our players being linked anywhere either. I assume that we can’t bring players in until we move some out so it could be a very slow process?

Training in Spain is the week after next. Time yet to bring players in before that .

Maybe, but if there was a specific target that fits Schueys plans- NMai for example- I wouldn’t expect them to hang about. Can’t be saying to prospective sellers “hang on while we offload a couple to pay for it”.

Plus there’s the element of involving new signings in preseason training as early as possible.

We”ll see. This is Fergals busiest part of the year.

Just looked at the lad from Celtic on a highlight clip....Very like Collins and not a central forward

Took the ball a lot on the half way line and ran at players......Scored a few headers, seemed to play with both feet.

Not sure we would bring this lad and Nmai in unless we can get rid of three of Desmond, lolos,Schon and Mcatee

I still think we will bring in another lump to give Dalby competition

Also gone quiet on the left back from Hull

Maybe at 5pm tonight we might be a little clearer

Folk do know that the transfer window doesn't shut for over 2 months!

And there's no crazy "system" for the players to learn, so they should be able to get up and ready after a week or two.

They do. They also know the season starts in five weeks time, with a tough set of opening fixtures, and it’s good to get a bit of pre-season in with the new players.

Personally, I don’t think we’re a million miles away from a decent XI, but would sooner get the last couple of pieces in, sooner rather than later.

It takes time to get to know how teammates play, what runs to expect from them, and for them to get to know you. Plus set plays and roles etc.

The Celtic chap is 6ft 2" according to Iles. Thats a reasonable lump for me!

I know. My point is it's not going to take new signings 6 months like it did before.

Come on, got to have a full pre season, thems the rules 🙄

How many more players do we think SS will be bringing in if he can? Another striker, 2 wingers, a left back, any more?

Fergal Harkin mentioned yesterday at the fixture release event at the stadium that we will be bringing in 3 or 4 more new faces, and he seemed quite certain of it.

Right winger is interesting. We might be sorted and we might not. Charlie Warren has been brought in, but he’s unlikely to be an immediate first choice, given the large step up.

Schumacher stated in an interview a few weeks ago that CMG would be given pre-season to prove his fitness and show what he can do. To be fair to CMG, he’s suffered with unfortunate injuries and was never given the opportunity to play as a right winger under Evatt (same could be said for Schon on the left wing).

If CMG has a good pre-season, we may go with CMG and Warren on the right. If not, look to move on CMG and bring in an experienced right winger, with Warren developing as understudy.

CMG is an interesting one. When he played at home against Birmingham, i thought he was outstanding. Barely got a look in after that.

I know at Fleetwood there were concerns around his resilience and work rate. Reading between the lines i think similar with us. As you say, i think SS will be looking at what sort of condition he has returned in, and a decision will be made fairly quickly. He's got a huge amount of talent - but has become a bit of a forgotten man with us.

We 100% need another CF, if's Dalby's shit which history suggests is correct then we're screwed up top. It'd be nice to have someone strong with pace.

I think we still need two new full backs and options on both wings.

If we think it's going to be 4-2-3-1 - The three is still hugely powder-puff in Tutu - Randall/Mcatee - Schon. I just cant see those three dominating anyone on cold midweek night especially away from home.

If the two is strong, which it promises to be with Morley and Simons (and Thomason? as backup) the three doesn’t need to be 6’ scrappers.

Moreover, the centre of the three doesn’t need to be a 10. It could be an 8. A fully fit and firing Dempsey would be ideal, but this might also be where Sheehan’s future lies … and he does hold the 8 shirt!

I have good news for you. Based on the fixture list, and assuming the cold weather kicks in from November, we only have 2 midweek night away games.

In other news, if you believe that Dalby is likely to be shit based on historical signings, surely buying another CF would just mean we've signed twice as much shit!

Whilst there's no doubt he should add to the physicality side of things and hopefully have good link up play, I don't see him getting even 10 for us and i think whoever is there needs to be looking at a minimum of 10 - 15 over the season if we're really gonna push on. Most teams in and around the promotion and play off places had at least one player at 15 or more last season.

Morley isn't big.

Also a big assumption that Thomason will only be a back up.

No one knows what SS plans are, though I do see him as being more flexible and being prepared to use a "horses for courses" approach.

Fair enough, and it's all opinions at this stage isn't it. I'm largely behind the work SS is doing, and will remain optimistic until reason not to be.

I do think there are risks with the slightly more revolution over evolution approach, and the 4 year contracts make me a little nervous for various reasons.

But time will tell. We'll be 'up there' next season, but I think it'll be hugely competitive and we are one of probably 10 teams that think they have a chance.
