We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Tbf We've got a massive retail park, Bolton arena and a hotel.

We are already in front of them.

Middlebrook is our town centre.

They are not investing in these towns for the locals but that is another debate.....build 10k homes in each town centre and the investment will soon be repaid

Good luck to Thommo.   I'm a bit disappointed to lose a player who gave it everything but we've got a good price for him  & he's no doubt got a pay rise plus the chance to play in the championship under a good manager. He'll always get a welcome back here from me.

A concern is that if we're now playing with 2 wingers, we're now massively dependent on Simons staying available.....without him we'll be in real danger of being overrun in midfield.

Sharples does seem to have bulked up but hasn't featured much in pre season, so if not him, we do need another physical presence in midfield.

Not true re the money from Disney. The club gets nothing from the documentary, not a dollar and never has done, they keep all of that. What the club has benefitted from is the exposure its brought.

They (Rob and Ryan) did initially loaned the club money, I think as of last season it was to the tune of 15 million in total but the club has now paid back (announced in the last set of accounts) and is now debt free.

They are not funding the club, pre season tours, sponsorship money, commercial, shirt/merchandise sales do that. Of course all this is directly because of them and the success they brought(bought) and it goes hand in hand.

But what they have done is very clever and they are no mugs, they managed all this and basically all they've spent is £2 million to buy the club. Which I'd imagine the Documentary has repaid them for several times over.

We've already got in bigger investors too, the Allyn Family. Happened last October. They are next level in terms of wealth. 2 billion odd.

But I don't want to hijack your thread. So I'll leave it there.

Good luck next season and I hope Dalby does well for you.

I am starting to like what you guys are doing purely from how happy it’s made some ex colleagues etc. they go all over now and have a great time. Good luck to em. The kids in schools all seem to have the Wrexham tops now as well which is good

Longridge should get a nice sell on %, could keep em going for years, even just 10%.

Hope we have a good sell on clause,  he may end up a modern Carlton Palmer, Robbie Savage and have a decent career

Big shazza will surely do the right thing and give them cash. She’s not in it for the money after all

I look at that list and think we're very light on midfield runners

We have Dempsey but he's currently out injured and can't be relied on to stay fit

I sort of agree, but then also think about the Ipswich team that beat us at home 2-0 and they bossed it with Morsy and Luongo just sat in really, nullifying everything and dictating the play.

So horses for courses I suppose, if we have legs everywhere else could Simons and Morley be our two conventional CMs??

Big Dan got 5 in 30 playing for Cambridge..

we're meant to be improving.

I wouldn't know Will Keane if I fell over him, I don't have a clue about his style of play.

But a quick check, he was top scorer for PNE in the championship the season before last (13 goals), top scorer for Wigan 3 years ago (26 goals).  So I think we can say he might be an improvement on Dan, and Vic.

Wonders why anyone is comparing Simons with players not playing in Simons position???

He has replaced Matete and not Thomason

If we're playing two in midfield, with last season's team, it would've been GT and Morley/Sheehan.

It'll now be Simons and Morley/Sheehan.

So how has he not replaced Thomason? One has taken the place in the team of the other.

I probably have seen him play but never enough to remember him.

PNE fans seem to describe him as big but not strong and not quick. His best quality being his link up play.

Which is almost to the word of how Wrexham fans see Dalby. So it makes sense in that respect.

I've moaned about us not having anyone with a track record of scoring goals at around this level, so I won't complain if SS wants Keane.

Keane may be the short term answer, 4 goals in 31 games last season is not prolific

32 now and is starting to spend time out injured

Maybe we are panicking a bit but Schumacher may think we can land Kenny on the last day and Dalby will be back fit by then.

Rather he went for Jota and think about the future

Again, I've no idea if Jatta is any good and have to trust SS's judgement.  But that would be another unproven at L1 signing.  I'm sure there'll come a point where SS wants someone that's been there and done it in this league, where he doesn't have to second guess.  We'll be playing against a number of teams with tried and tested L1 players, they won't be thinking about 3 years time (rightly or wrongly), they'll be concentrating on putting a team out that can beat us next month.

Thomason plays on the left of midfield Sheehan/Morley/Matete played central

Thomason strength is his workrate he cannot control and dictate a game unlike Simons

As i said Simons has replaced  Matete

The writing was on the wall once Schumacher came in he was played left of midfield, left back and left of a back three

Anywhere but the centre of midfield

Think it’ll be a loan where we cover half the wages so not the worst deal for us, if it were a 3 year deal on big wages at 32 then hell no but for one season? Why not? Has gotten out of this league before & has been bagging goals in the champ for the past few seasons bar the last one which is why we even have a chance of getting him. He’s never been a player who’s relied on pace, just a clever forward with decent link up play who knows where the net is

“He’s never been a player who’s relied on pace, just a clever forward with decent link up play who knows where the net is”

Whereas what we need is a marauding beast with strength, pace and a cannon of a shot in either foot to take advantage of Simon’s through balls, the new widemen and the whole team now aiming to get the ball forward a lot quicker. They’re expensive but I’m sure we can get something approaching that.

Plenty on youtube of Keanes Goals at Wigan, Hull, Preston etc

What is very striking he comes short for the ball and  he does not score with his head

Not a issue but we have just invested in wingers

I think that's one area where Tomo had really improved, and we'll  miss that.  Some games he seemed to cover every blade of grass, and he'd developed a habit of arriving in the box to finish off moves (not always successfully, but his goal at Northampton a good example).  Dempsey can do that part of the job as you say but we have to assume his non availability rather than count him in.

Played well in the PJ final though

Apart from his time at Wigan Keans goals per game is awful

Said you are self sustainable they've built a proper product and not just throwing millions in to a pit.

Fair play.

What you lot reckon about GT?

We don't know a great deal regarding GT and most admit that but the general theme these days is that almost all signings are well received due to the trust the fans have in Parky and those above him.

They've made a few mistakes (who doesn't) but generally most of the signings have improved us.

My take is that we've signed the captain from a bigger club (albeit a league below) and he's only 24

Sharples showed more against Hearts, than he did in his few previous games, he timed two tackles to perfection. But agree maybe a loan for him this year, good one for the future though.

Leyther Matt will be fuming at that first line

Due to their rapid rise a lot of Wrexham's infrastructure is still non-league. A period of consolidation will actually do them good.

If nobody came in for Thomason he'd be here competing for a spot in central midfield. If you think Simons is better than GT in that role and with what SS has planned then fine. But he's still replacing him.

Matete league starts under SS...

Shrewsbury (a) - GT suspended

Orient (H) - started with GT on the bench. Subbed at half time.

Wycombe (H), Lincoln (A), Posh (A), Stevenage (H) - end of the season run with Morley & Sheehan injured

But his time at Wigan wasn't 6 months, it was 3 years.  Of which one was in the championship, and he still got 1 in 2.5 games overall for them.  Even at PNE, 1 in 4 appearances and I'm going to guess a lot of his games were from the bench assuming he's not first choice.

Granted he didn't score many before 2020 but he was at championship clubs, when his natural level is probably L1 judging by his record.  We talk about Charles, Collins, Alfie May as top scorers for our level, their stats would look a lot different if they'd spent most of their careers trying to get into championship sides.

But you're midfielders are like the wife's car. Spends most of its time on the drive & gets by-passed all the time.
