Leicester's wage bill isn't far off Arsenals. I doubt they'll be throwing cash around this summer.

Shopping at L1 clubs probably wouldn’t be described as throwing money around.

Remember when Anderson negotiated the clough fee down for quicker payment.

We’ve only rinsed anyone once in my lifetime and that was Madine to Cardiff

Tbf £3.5m for Clough was daylight robbery.

Wheres he at nowadays?

Adelaide United.

Leicester will be looking to sign players capable of playing in the Prem. With all respect to Rico, he doesn’t fit that bill. I could only ever see him make a go of it in a side that plays with three at the back.

Just had a Google of Zach Clough, I hadn't realised / omitted from memory that he'd sold his soul and played for Wigan

If they're spending £5/6m (based on you saying 'far more' than £3m) on a 27 year old who's never played above L1 I'd consider that throwing money around.

Think Toal would be the most attractive asset of our defenders anyway.

Think if they are selling players for 30/40/50m which some will go for, then for me it’s chump change.

Quite a good article on this recently where he stated he had no other offers and being at Wigan was actually ok but not a patch on his thoughts for Bolton.

Ken negotiated it to 2.5m😂

He played for Bolton, and was on his way down (no disrespect to him).  Its more of a surprise when those players don't sign for Wigan.

Remember seeing Holding and Clough in the David Lee u-18s. They were outstanding at that level. Clough's downturn started when he injured his shoulder.

The Luton keeper who was at Barnsley till yesterday looked decent and was a master at shithousery, he'd be an option,   him and the shrews keeper.     Plus that Connell lad at Barnsley ,  not sure what he did so wrong against us to be given grief but he's a damn good midfielder, dont know what his contract situation is but he'd be a very decent player for us,  and again good at the shithousery art.

He signed a three-year contract last summee

Sadly, I doubt we could afford him and I'd expdct he'd attract better offers than us

The 2 Barnsley Centre halves - Anderson and Kitching have been very good in the play offs 3 games. If we lose any of ours, I'd look at them

... & we could have got him last year.

... and everyone here called him a twat.

Well, not everyone

But he is a twat - it's one of the things that makes him a good player

I'd agree the social media barracking ever since he left was and is less than helpful though; our supporters can be right fucking idiots at times

Connell is ok as a player, very decent delivery, but I’d not want him back, 11 years at Bolton and couldn’t wait to bail out.

That's probably the reality for any talented youngster we produce if a big club comes calling

And considering the appalling state the club was in at the time he left, any player with anything about them would be looking to get out ASAP

We are not paying higher wages than Barnsley so why would they come to Bolton which is a sideways move?

Agree Tom, Toal looks a much better prospect than Rico for a move higher up. Having said that, until we see Rico at a higher level we aren’t going to know so if Leicester are offering good money for him I’d let him go.

Our transfer policy is unlikely to deviate much from acquiring young players lower down the pyramid (Toal, Santos, Morley) or out of contract / soon to be out of contract players with sell on value (Charles, Dapo, Dempsey, Iredale).

Ambition! Bigger club, bigger crowds, better stadium, better training facilities, and no reason we can’t pay bigger wages than Barnsley.

Loyalty is a 2 way street it was almost indignant haste he left, when he left Celtic he fitted our profile but the way he left BWFC is probably the reason we didn’t consider re-signing him.

Yes but it is marginal. As things stand we will both be challenging for automatic promotion from L1 next season and are likely to offer a similar salary. Bolton and Barnsley are fairly similar so the bigger club thing is based on history and is not relevant.
