Ice Station Macron

Given the number of posts about how cold it was yesterday, got to thinking: some buildings/stadiums are now heavily laden with solar panels. If they were installed all over the roofs at the macron, could they be used to power some sort of underseat warming system- eg blowing warm air.

Not trying to get to a barmy 20 degrees or owt daft, but just a bit to keep the blood flowing. Over the course of the year, would they create some revenue?

Life line, paperless season tickets, BSA and his sports science; time for another bwfc pioneering innovation.

  • I've done an SAS selection course and also done Hartlepool away on boxing day. Yesterday was not cold. Some folk need to toughen up a bit.

I've never been as cold as that game Chelsea spanked is in Nat's send off.

That's the year I learned sense and began donning longjohns, proper winter wool coat straight from midwest USA, two pairs of socks, bobhat, scarf - the lot.

Never without this getup now from December to March.

Grimsby away in Jan 81, frozen to the bone with a blizzard blowing in from the North sea and snowing all the way back home.

Overheard some guys on the buzzz saying how cold it was.

Where I sit in North Stand lower it was absolutely fine.

Upper tiers have always been a tad draughty.

Tha wants try working in -25 as I tend to do at least 2days a week.

Norwich home.

League Cup

Patterson missed pen.

Brutal night that.

The east coast is the coldest ( I even had a horrible leather duffle coat just for the open end at Sunderland - I looked a right twat but it kept me warm !! ) but my worst misjudgement was thinking Norwich was far enough south to be warmer but turned out to be the coldest i've ever been.

Norwich home.

League Cup

Aye The one night where you really didn't want 0-0, extra time and pens was that one

And leeds a week or so later

Norwich home.

League Cup

Patterson missed pen.

Brutal night that.

Think curcic rolled it to their keeper.

Did we even win?

It was defraitas and no

They all look the same. Bloody foreigners.

If memory serves me right we were bobbing up and down to that Mike Oldfirld Christmas instrumental track at half time to keep warm.

Remember one game in 1994-95 may of been reading in the January was an error to wear one thin pair of socks that day. Was in world's of trouble by half time. Feet like ice

I've never found The Reebok/Macron that cold, jsl. Don't anticipate it being in future either as I'm already toying with the idea of a hot flask ????.

I doubt Leeds or Norwich at Burnden can ever be topped for cold as they've taken on Darlington mythos now. I iceskated back to The Brooklyn after Leeds, got a tow from a passing Polar Bear

Was bloody freezing walking from the retail park on Boxing Day but that was mainly due to the wind. Was fine in the ground, been a lot worse.

Coldest I've ever been was Arsenal away when Riga came on and got subbed off. Was about -5.

They all look the same. Bloody foreigners.

Sickening

Leeds in the 90s at Burnden. Brolin was playing for them and despite being born north of th'arctic circle even he was wearing gloves. Mind you, he always was a mardy little twat.

Oldham was always a cold day out

Guimaraes an hour before kick off

Sunderland way back when at Roker think it was Boxing Day think it was draw no idea what year it was but long time ago.

About 92ish if it's the one I remember on a boxing day. Granted I've been a bit pissed since then. Also recall Hartlepool and orient too.

Coventry in the 1987 cup, Harlepool in 1993ish and Oldham maybe 1981 are the coldest I've been at football. Don't think I've ever been reallllly cold at the Macron. Maybe I just don't care if I look a knob now as long as I'm warm

If memory serves me right we were bobbing up and down to that Mike Oldfirld Christmas instrumental track at half time to keep warm.

And that still didn't work!

It was horrible that night

Charlton 82/83 was bloody freezing, just before Christmas and the Charlton fans were put in the Manny Road North as the Embankment was as frosty as my ex wife.

I went home at half time before my feet dropped off.

Did the Sunderland Boxing Day away in 94, that was a tad parky.

England v Holland when Ricketts played was pretty nippy too.

Two things I remember ftom the Sunderland game..

1. It was fucking cold

2. There was a Bolton fan with a Newcastle hat on or it was a geordie in the away end and the Sunderland fans to the right was going ape.

Oldham on the snowbank in the 1970s when we pelted that police woman until silly cow ran on the pitch
