London Tower Block Engulfed In Flames

27 storey tower block gone up. I've never seen anything like it. Hope and prayers to all involved... appears to be families etc.

Hope everyone gets out, would be amazed- but fear the worst.

Apparently gas works taken place... hopefully nothing more sinister.

Any property investor that buys up places in London will very likely rent them out for a decent amount

Leaving them empty to go to rack and ruin, I just can't see it

My mate gets £1200 for his spare room in Clapham ffs

Requisition them if you want but pay the going rate, non of this squatting bollocks

If your housing benefit doesn't cover it then make it up yourself

Birch I think the point is that a lot of these properties in this part of London are apparently not even available for rent they are just left empty. Crazy I know.

Got a bit of dust in my eye when that charity record was on just then.

Appreciate that's what 'they' say but I'm dubious

They also say that "nurses are using food banks" and I think that's misleading as well

I just can't see why a free market capitalist investor would turn down hundreds of thousands of pounds in rent if the purpose of the investment is to make money

Granted you will get empty properties everywhere, there are 2 near me in Chorley that I would love to get my hands on and renovate for the family but they have been abandoned by eccentric crackpots

Besides, all this talk of 'seizing' empty homes. Who would want to live in an abandoned pad with no furniture or utilities rather than a hotel?

The council have put them all up in hotels and will find them new accommodation asap. They have £500 cash and £5k transferred into their banks accounts so could easily go private if needs be

I just don't see the sense behind a senseless plan to requisition abandoned properties like squatters

I still don't understand why somebody in London should be homeless so that somebody on the other side of the world can leave a property vacant whilst it's accruing value as their nest egg.

An alternative way to help the housing problem would be to ensure that social housing is used efficiently with no 1-2 person households living in 3-4 bedroom houses. But that would be a "bedroom tax" and we can't have that.

It's base level class war, the politics of envy.

Can't believe you're making this tragedy political.

I was merely pointing out that the authorities have re-homed the victims.

Gosh, Traf.

I'm not making it political, that horse has already bolted.

I was merely reporting a fact.

I agree to an extent, though sufficient housing stock for everyone isn't unreasonable. Its how that's achieved.

Knock knock...

Fuck Off ?

Video on facebook stating all donations are going to the red cross... not the homeless...

British Red Cross are co-ordinating the charitable work, I Believe.

Just reading an article in the paper about the flat fire.

One of the questions was.

There are 108 people in hospital and temp.lodgings and a reported 79 were killed.

Now they reckon between 5-600 people lived in these flats?

So thats leaves 3-400 not accounted for.

So where are they and why are they not coming out with the true death toll.

Someone trying to hide something.?

The flats were 'full' of illegals.

There are calls for an amnesty for those illegals who managed to escape.

This country is fucked.

Bedroom tax my big fat hairy arse

I don't know if you're telling me that because you suspect that I'd be up in arms about the 'bedroom tax' - but I'm on record on WW arguing that it was actually a pretty sound idea - just poorly executed. I thought the 'dementia tax' one had its merits as well. I also thought annual testing for some people of disability benefits made sense too - and that's speaking as a son who's father is registered disabled.

If there is going to be a solution to the housing problems in the UK - then it's going to be a lot of smaller initiatives adding up to make a difference.

I had thought your post about anybody not bowing to Her Maj going on a terrorist watchlist was sarcastic. I even giggled at it. Now I'm not so sure :-)

Charge more council tax / rates on empty residential / commercial property then

Don't tell folk that they should be able to seize empty properties, that's just crazy talk

If corbyn and the lefties have their way your two week holiday to Spain would end up with 7 asylum seekers or poles camping out in your front room for the duration. It's empty occupy it.

What part are you struggling with?

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/amnesty-for-illegal-migrants-scared-to-say-they-survived-grenfell-blaze-hpmhrv9lw

I'm a big fan of eccentric crackpots with properties going to rack and ruin...Rich cunts doing the same however should be given an ultimatum - castration or hand over the keys.

"Amnesty for any illegal immigrants who come forward"

Form a disorderly queue, London

It does seem ridiculous. If they're here illegally, get rid. Sorry if you've been through a terrible ordeal but its time to go.

Absolutely. Bad luck and tragedy isn't as far as I'm

Aware a get out of jail free card. If you're not supposed to be here then be prepared when found to get sent back

Wherever you belong

Further to my earlier question. Out was asked on a closed fire service facebook group and someone vvitk has said the death toll is already known to be 160ish but they aren't releasing this to the public.

That sounds to me as if the media have an embargo on the info.

I knew there must be more

the numbers never added up

I'm not struggling with any of it - I'm just trying to figure out whether you're a bell end.

It's nice to meet someone who has a doubt.

Let me get some popcorn please.....

Your mate gets a mention near the end...

Someone trying to hide something.?

Have they confirmed how many have lived?

I guess they don't confirm the dead till they 100% know someone is dead, ie they have been identified

A family of five turned up safe a couple of days ago who'd be doing their own thing

We know lots of people have died so don't see what could now be gained by somehow trying to cover up the numbers, what difference would it make now?
