Renault

Proper British manufacturer.

Does it matter? Not really. If they want to employ British people and increase headcount on these shores I’m all for it

It’s only a matter of time, French unions and high wages in France makes it a certainty.

I applaud your enthusiasm and optimism

Not to me.

But there’s an obsession with British made, British owned, Union Jack.

Of course we want foreign investment. But we were getting that anyway.

You will get that in every nation on earth though. A minority who have a very very limited understanding of the real world and how economies work.

im loathe to use some of the terminology/names (quite funny if I’m honest 😁) you use to describe this section of society. But we’re not alone in this regard.

I do think it will have a positive impact on a small section of the manufacturing industry, but are people suddenly going to just buy British? We all know that’s not going to happen.

So now brexit is about protecting the financial interests of a Japanese carmaker?

Well that’s ok then.

Any large company will be angling for anything they can get via government incentives during the changes that are to come.

As for a no deal situation, we've been here before.

All very familiar and we know what happened last time with last minute agreements.

Can't see anything other than something similar this time: caught a speech from Bill Cash earlier, he's obviously a leaver, but there's no finer mind when it comes to understanding laws, agreements etc. He's a walking encyclopedia in fact.

His message was essentially EU currently asking for too much, some explanation of why Germany is increasing its influence within the bloc, etc etc.

EU on the other hand saying similar about us.

After what went on last time, not going to bother with it all until it's finalised. Screeching and bickering is unhealthy, particularly when there's a nasty virus about.

I believe we are going to see some growth in British manufacturing, as much, if not more so, because of the virus.

Lisa Nancy speaking earlier, echoed what ministers etc have been saying. There is/was insufficient capacity in the UK to make test kits, PPE etc.

Surely there will be government inducements for companies over here to expand operations in this sector. This in turn may have some knock on effects on other manufacturers.

Small acorns and all that.

About time the Tories got stuck into Barnier and the EU.

Why

Boris said the Brexit deal was “Oven Ready”

Surely they just need to set the oven to 200 degrees and we’re off?

People like mounts don't mind being lied to. Even if the new lie totally contradicts a previous lie he celebrated. He's been dancing on the head of a pin for the last 4 years.

EU playing hardball for a long time, thankfully we’ve now got someone who’s not having his belly tickled.

To summarise - Boris is "playing hardball" in order to fix "an unfair deal" that he personally signed off and celebrated before using it as the main selling point in his election campaign - and people like Mounts are still lapping it up.

Incredible.

Good on Boris, keep the pressure up, edging for the best deal he can for U.K. plc, of course you’ll be hoping Barnier gets better deal for EU.

in the meantime I see Unilever ditching the Amsterdam move.

Far from it. I'm hoping we get all the brilliant benefits and unicorns we were promised.

Yet you are seemingly not happy Boris playing hardball. Strange but not surprising you don’t seem to like Boris fighting our corner.

So why not reciprocal? If it's short term.

Because we don’t control what the other side do. They have made a decision to do something that they perceive will be beneficial  that’s how it looks to me.

seems odd like you say that we haven’t got a reciprocal agreement, maybe they tried and EU couldn’t gain consensus from its member states? Who knows  but I’m not Involved in the negotiations so no idea what’s going on same as any of us apart from a few highly knowledgable folk on here who know everything
