Exactly

They want to forget about the lies

Well, I've plenty time to keep bringing it up

Nothing to forget. Already in the public domain. Either accept it and move on or keep moaning.

Choice is yours.

For me, a little extra electronic paperwork is not the end of the world, so move on.

If it's a big deal, folk can put their X in someone else's box next time round.

I think the issue really is that Boris said there’d be no checks, absolutely none at all on the Irish border.

He said that on many occasions and people may well have voted for him based on these lies.

Its ok saying you can vote for someone else in 5 years, but the fact is he lied. And will get away with it.

Starmer lies too, for balance.

That doesn’t make it ok.

Its one of the reasons we lost (and will now be highly unlikely to get back) loads of high value Irish customers.

Your customers went well before any deal was agreed didn't they.

In fact the result was still quite fresh and they were going.

An electronic form isn't in reality a hugely expensive barrier to importing goods. Once it's all up and running, it will become a normal part of exporting goods.

There was hope that no border checks may give us a way back.

This doesn’t.

Is it not, how much does it cost in time to fill one in, and how many do you have to fill in? - is it one per shipment, or is it one for every different type of product in said shipment, depending on what duties or tariffs may be on the separate component parts within any given shipment?

Sweep how much does your company import from the EU? Or is most of it from outside?

Probably around 90% of what we bring in is from China in reality -  sometimes it's a piece of piss and plain sailing, sometimes stuff gets stuck for weeks on end in customs, due to incorrect paperwork.

From the UK though, we ship back out to everywhere, with a large percentage going to the EU, so any extra paperwork is going to be a problem, no matter what anybody says, especially in the early days......to negate this though, our boss last year had a whacking new warehouse built in Poland, that will now be our main distribution hub. In reality, it's been great for the business costs, as he got to fire 40-odd quite well paid UK people. and replace them with 50 or 60 lesser paid people in Poland. We do still of course have a warehouse here in the UK, but we only need a few people to handle that now

So in reality, what companies have been doing for years ?

Cheers. So you and spider have the same issues in respect of not so much getting goods in it’s your exports that are potentially the issue.

my company is going to have an issue importing. Both finished goods and parts. Only because of tariffs I suspect rather than logistical issues as we hold a significant stock of spares in our UK logistics centre but it’s the finished goods coming in which arrive daily that are going to be an issue

Its all a bit shit, but we just need to get on with it and see what happens. One thing it won't be is easy, certainly during in the initial few months/years

Stop being negative, especially if it’s a proper British pebble!

Take it out. As not everyone will have one, you need to be on a level playing field.

With the new documents, everyone has to do them.

Presumably, you had no problems with the introduction of the minimum wage, or were you against it as it would put prices up?

You are trying to reason with people so far entrenched that it’s pointless. But you know this

In this analogy, it's illegal to simply "take it out".

Not sure what you mean by "everyone has to do them" either. None of the 27 EU countries will have to do them when they import/export between themselves. They'll only have to "do them" when they deal with us, and I'm pretty sure their prices and appetite for our market will reflect that.

We’ve gone from a stone in your shoe to a pebble. May as well put a breeze block in there and call it the stone you’ll get used to eventually!
