I'm ok, honest.

Short term

I'm sure it will only be short term, but it's still not great, especially as it only seems to apply "one way", and it certainly isn't what we were promised. Fingers crossed it is only for a couple of years, and not for any longer than that

The problem I see with it, is that all of a sudden, it doesn't give the EU an incentive to get a wriggle on with the discussions, as their stuff still continues to come into the UK easily, and ours has problems/issues getting into the EU  -  in fact, it's a pretty perfect position for the EU.

Just wait until they announce it's not just goods, but people as well, so they are still allowed freedom to come here unchecked, but we get screened when going over there 🤪

I will wait calmly and patiently until it’s all sorted and the dust settles, I find that the best thing to do.

Yeah, the problem with you saying that is an encyclopaedic history of posts from you  on this board that utterly contradict you.

but interesting to note that we won’t hear from you on the matter for at least another year.

Perhaps not,  but we know we will hear from you again when your having another melt down.

"Playing hardball" seems to have acquired a new meaning - "Signing a fantastic deal that nobody thought was possible, then refusing to adhere to it because it's unfair".

Considering the meltdowns I’ve had, it’s amazing I’m able to type with my melty fingers 😊

Really, I just like teasing you.

when it's put like that, it doesn't sound so great does it

anyway, we need somebody from the "other side" of the argument to tell us why it's actually really good for the UK

I did say in my later post that I found it odd that we didn’t have a reciprocal agreement.

i would agree if it is what it looks like it is a  win for the EU. Maybe it is. Maybe we’ve had no choice to backdown. I would be surprised given my view on our negotiating position and hand so to speak. But again we’ve no idea what’s going on behind the scenes.

and you won’t get a bite from me on the freedom of movement. I shall leave that to one of my fellow thick , owd racists to jump in 😁

We probably have had to back down in this case - but some people would never, in a million years, be willing to admit that.

You're bang on though, nobody has a clue what is going on behind the scenes - at the minute, it does look like a massive win for the EU, but I'm sure there must be more to come out, otherwise it does look a bit like we've rolled over

If it was a rollover I can’t see the government releasing it without some spin round it as they usually would which makes me think there is more to it and the journalists have ran with half the story. But on the flip side the silence is deafening.

who knows anyway I’m away to get my steel toe caps dusted off for tomorrow 😁

So Brexiteers.  Given the virus and the impact it is having on the world and this country in terms of Govt focus if nothing else. Why would not delay the deal to make it reflects what we need in the new normal’ ?

We seem tied to date even if that date stops us having the best Brexit we can.

Said at the beginning of the pandemic, a small extension might make sense. That would have to be on current terms though.

Wasn't Barnier suggesting an extension, but looking for a heap of extra cash to help with the EU's bailout fund?

Would depend upon the cost in the end.

As for the current announcement, it is being reported that it is the wish of industry, whilst the restrictions are in place.

I would like to think we would flex as required. If they don’t then my perception of them , subject to whatever deal we get of course, would likely change for the worse.

I just hope Boris is strong enough not to get hung up on the date.

He should listen to the people. How I’m not sure. But he should. But then who should he listen to that’s the problem.

those intent on going end of the year come what may? Those intent on staying. Or those somewhere in between like myself. Fraught with danger

The reason to complete is to ensure that we don’t remain in all but name, so that we create enough blue water so as not just easily rejoin, which is what the extension game is all about.

The reason for an extension would be to allow the best deal for the UK.  Closing this avenue as a possibility just increases the pressure on all sides when Covid 19 has already caused severe time issues on existing deadlines.

Thank you. You just won me a tenner 👍🏼

I though his gang had a,ready quit this thread ?

Amazing how they come out of the woodwork isn't it ?

Has anyone asked if this relaxing of terms is linked to COVID ?

I've not followed it recently, so apologies if already mentioned.
