Ani Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 I love the idea of a big tunnel. What I do not understand is what difference it would make. If we need border of some description why does it matter if it a tunnel ? Not being a smart arse I do not understand why mode of transport matters Quote

If there was a business case, then fair enough. Not sure there is, but open to be shown otherwise. Quote

Guest Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Noticed that the pound is nearly back to pre referendum levels against the dollar. New York will be a little less expensive, when/if we can get there. Quote

This is the Dollar weakening by the looks of it, not the £ strengthening, which is the implication when you post it in the Brexit thread. The £ is nowhere near pre-referendum levels when compared to Euro or Yen. Quote
Spider Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 A strong pound isn't great news for exporters. Importers will be happy and it means we won't need to bother opening all these factories that are about to spring into life apparently. Quote

Your euro is still good. Quote
Carlos Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 I'm going off the BBC, draw your own conclusions. For me, there's nothing to suggest the £ is weakening or strengthening. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/cx250jmk4e7t/pound-sterling-gbp Quote

Correct on both counts - for me, it's really good, as my GP has shifted up a few percent already this year without me having to do anything Quote
Spider Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Ford have announced a $1billion deal to make electric vehicles in Germany. Overlooking a brilliant opportunity to build new factories and train baristas in Britain. Yank cunts Quote

Come on leave the half a story shite that others post about Venus fly traps and give the full context why EV production is being targeted at Germany? little clue. Why have Volvo trucks signed Upto a JV for hydrogen fuel cell tech with a well known German manufacturer? go on honestly try telling the full story and see where it gets you 👍🏼 Quote

All it needs is training and getting some factories built. We should be taking German car manufacturers on. Toe to toe. Where's your ambition? Quote
Escobarp Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 @Spidercan I sit as an observer to one of your board meetings at work at some point? I would love to see it in action. this has happened to we will need to rein back as it’s lost. Why is it lost? Let’s understand? it’s lost and that’s that end of. There’s my quarter of a story Quote

There’s my quarter of a story Apparently, Brexit was all about adaptability. Mounts and co. have told me numerous times that I didn't prepare properly, that we need to think creatively, seize the new opportunity. Team GB should be putting big contracts like this in the crosshairs. I know it's right in your wheelhouse, so I'm surprised you don't agree. Quote
Escobarp Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Important thing for me is those products are being sold into the uk which is an ever growing market and done so on a tarrif free basis. the more they sell the more mrs esco gets to spend online at Harvey Nicols and the more overpriced trainers I get to buy. And I get a blue passport. It’s a win win for me currently. It could have gone horribly wrong for me and I was worried as I voted leave before my new employment. 6 months ago I would have changed my vote. Because I need to look after my family. Fortunately it’s worked out well. But I was shitting it Quote

If it was that simple of course we should be looking at this but from an EV tech point of view we are light years behind. Most of our tech is being designed all across the world using the best minds but the manufacturing capacity isn’t in the uk. And even if brexit hadn’t happened that would still be the case sadly.
