I seriously hope whoever picks the team for Sunday knows who in the squad can create and who can finish goal scoring opportunities because currently, (and using stats from Burton) no attempts on target says we aren't getting any of the basics of football right. If we don't score any goals then the best we can hope for is a 0-0 draw.
I'd rather they risked some of the younger players than persist in lumping a hopeful ball to ALF in the hope he gets a lucky bounce.

Looking forward to this game now, West Upper for me, should be a cracking atmosphere.

I actually think Hall will start.

Remember what happened last time a player named Hall got his first league start in a must win game for us?

Sky only showing the Cardiff vs Reading match.

Oh, and Man City vs Huddersfield.

Shithouse cunts

Odds for staying up are 2.33 with a betfair sportsbook treble:

Bolton to win.

Derby draw double chance

Preston draw double chance

When vela was right back he used to spend all the time demanding the ball and trying to build from the back.

Albeit a few times he got caught out. Mainly because no other player was on same wave length.

Get him in centre mid.

Get Burke in at centre back.

Get noone and ameobi on wings.

Build from there.

Hall upfront with me fondre.

Give the fans something to really get behind.

woah woah woah an orthodox midfielder playing in a centre midfield role?

i think you've lost the plot, only a fool would do that

Whilst there is hope and all that.

My big concern is that we don't win.

In fairness whenever he's played in a central midfield role I think he's struggled. His best season was in league one playing off Madine and chasing everything. That's his main asset, a good engine. In quality terms he's not really at this level. And his overall midfield game is IMO weak.

I was with you up until Hall.

I have it on good authority that it's not just Parky that thinks he isn't ready - Lee and Phillips agree; I don;t think we should be panicking to the extent of going against all that. Have him on the bench, sure

My main concern, as BarryCowdrill has stated, is that we can set up as "offensively" as possible, but if the confidence has still drained and the players have no faith in what they're doing, we won't create any more chances, just by the selection of personnel. At Burton, we played for 60 minutes like it was injury time; relying on hoofs and panic from them in the 2nd phase....that isn't going to beat Forest, just as it didn't Burton.

Sadly, I can see us playing 5-0-5 with no quality at all, way too early if they don't have a real plan and the faith to execute it

its simply shit or bust this weekend and if we arent to prevail i  would rather us go having a right ding dong than a whimper. 2 defensive midfielders (in principle) gives you greater protection but our defensive record suggests otherwise.

im not saying Vela in there as part of a two week in week out is the answer. but for this one off game id prefer to have him in there as someone who wants to take the ball, can break through the oppositon & get up to support when we go forward.

rather than him chasing pass backs to a goal keeper whilst Henry, Derik or Pratley chug around without a clue of whats going on in and around them

But with Henry and Pratley holding he can run round a bit.

There is no need to over analyse last few games but Henry and Derik simply do not cover enough ground. Play 3 in midfield centrally Henry holding Pratley and Vela tasked with running about lots and getting nearer to Alf so we at least compete for second ball. Ameobi and Noone wider.

We can stay up the bookies think so , they have more 'faith' than most on here.

It does not matter now what has gone before six months ago most of us would snatched the hand of anyone that promised a chance of survival on the last day.

We are shite we all know this so lets just give it one last go & forget the golf & taking the wife shopping & about what happens next season Its been gruesome at times but the support has been excellent now is not the time to wilt

We have all been here before it could be a crock of shite or it could be a turning point actually staying in this league.

COYW.

The bookies have us as 1/2 to go down second favourites after Burton, Barnsley now 6/4.

I’d go 3-5-2 that’s if we had 3 centre half’s worthy of the name.????

In a 3 yes. But they were talking about 4-4-2 with Vela in CM....

So, we are agreed on

Alnwick (last game)

Little

Robinson

Wheater

Beevers (sigh)

Henry

Pratley

Vela

No one

Amoebi

ALF

I doubt he’ll start with that

I could see that being the team. It's basically how we played earlier in the season. Fact is it would be the simplest way of setting up without doing anything crazy. I'm not buying starting with 2 forwards, as a) we don't have 2 and B) if you lose midfield early doors there isn't really anywhere to go.

If we need to, we can stick Wilbraham or whoever on for the last 20 minutes.

How about 5-5-0 with NoOne up front?

He will if Ken tells him to.

Aye, but we’d taken thirteen points from the six games leading up to that brainwave, not one!

failed to score in 20 league games this season (12 with Madine, 8 without before anyone starts)

scored 2 or more in 10 games

kept 9 clean sheets

just when you start to think can we? the stats kick you in the bollocks with a horrible dose of reality. whichever players play the reality is its more about the formation and how we play

Every single one of them needs a performance of the season

Morais has to start for me he is one of the few who can create a goal.

I kinda agree and can’t understand why he didn’t start Saturday. Even less so why he played right back and then centre midfield ????

Thing is, noone was our best player on sat; Ameobi is unlikely to be dropped despite being anonymous for weeks, so who does Morais play in place of? Vela?

Morais coming on playing so deep summed up the shambles that is Parky

I would probably drop Ameobi to the bench and use him as an impact sub, I would love 2 go 2 up top but fucking hell we cannot play the old man and massive risk to play Hall, if Obasi was fit I might go with him alongside ALF. But for sure I would have Hall on the bench.
