Guest Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 now now get off the lads back. he has been brilliant when he has played for us. lets go wilbo lets go *CLAP CLAP* He's 38 and finished. Not sure booing him is going to change that. Not his fault he was signed when he was all we could afford. He'd basically retired at Bristol City but Ken hadn't sorted anything out so that is who we ended up with. Quote
mickbrown Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 We've got to win so we've got to score. For me that means pace on the flanks so Robinson and Little are back in (fuck knows why Lttle has been dropped) Proper wingers either side. Sammy and Alf up top. Henry anchoring and the most creative midfielder we have next to him. Karacan? Fuck knows. I'll bare my arse if any of that happens. Quote

We've not scored more than 2 this season, it would be unrealistic to think we'll turn the taps on in the last game. So we've got to aim to score 2 and win the game with 2. That means we can't be so open as to let Forest easily get behind the midfield to create chances. If Forest score more than 1 then I think we can safely say it's over. Even 1 might be too many. We have to look at how we've managed to win games this season because its unlikely that we'll suddenly press a switch and blow a team away. Doesn't happen like that. Quote
barrycowdrill Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Yes there is a balance but weve had 11 shots on target in the last 6 games. expecting them to be raining shots in left right and centre isnt realistic but setting them up in a way were they are more on the front foot is imperative. expecting to win the game with our average of less than 2 shots on target a game and pinching a 1-0 is suicide Quote

I'm afraid at this stage of the season it's shit or bust. If we set up like we have for most of the season hoping to nick a spawny goal then we're fucked. We've got to release the hounds Quote

The balance needs adjusting. Just saying the likelihood is IF we're to win it will still be an edgy and tight affair. Setting up and leaving them space in the midfield would be suicide. Quote

But i fear thats what it will be Quote

But i fear thats what it will be But expecting us to suddenly go and be on the front foot the whole game and score 3/4 is not realistic. You could bring Pep in and he'd not manage that. We'll have plenty of defending to do. I'd say our best chance of winning in reality in the cold light of day is keeping a clean sheet. Quote

I'd say our best chance of winning in reality in the cold light of day is keeping a clean sheet. where have i said that? im on about maximising our chances of creating more shots at goal. 4-2-3-1 gives that if you play in their half rather than sitting off trying to sock up pressure, as we do. then launching the ball to whoever with absolutely no one running off him in the small likelihood he wins the ball there isnt a science to football. if your worried about being caught out at the back? sit people in there to mop up. (Henry & Pratley) if you're playing 3 behind a lone striker whose 5ft 9? get the ball in to his or supporting players feet and build from there. Edited May 2, 2018 by barrycowdrill Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 That's everyone's best chance of winning. We'll have plenty of defending to do anyway, so perhaps a slightly more positive approach and making them defend for a while might be useful. Who knows; osede might get a nose bleed as he ventures towards their penalty area. Quote

Rizlar Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 We also need to retain possession a lot better if they haven't got the ball they can't score. Quote

mickbrown Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Exactly how Owen Coyle would set the team up. Fair enough. Let's go one wee fella up top and pack the midfield with stoppers. See you at Scunny next year Quote

birch-chorley Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 To be fair, Parky knows a thing or two about playing with a team weighted towards attacking, it’s usually when we are 1 or 2 down and he throws the kitchen sink on the field I’d like to see us start with a set up that will go the 90 minutes and give us a chance at both ends simultaneously Quote
Lostock Whites Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 If we score more goals than them, we will win Quote
LodgeMorrWhite Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 It's the only game all season where we can't set up for a draw, we have to go attacking. In that sense it may be the easiest selection Parky has had to make all season. Ameobi in particular needs to play the game of his life, get him on the ball running at them, and pray it's one of those days when he looks like a proper player! Quote
itdiddidit? Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 If we score more goals than them, we will win you need to wait for parky outside on sunday and pass him a note with that on as hes going in Quote
Dr Faustus Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Four four fucking two Stick every football film ever on Get a fucking shaman Use the force Shooot Anything For 90 fucking minutes, make us proud We lose, we lose... We lick our wounds and start again; we can't deny we've been shit, but fuck me we still have a chance... Now is the time for Scott Howard- Teen Wolf is gone; come together... Unto the breech... MickyD Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 If we score more goals than them, we will win The first three words kind of make that statement a bit flawed. You might as well write "If they score I'll show my arse on t' Town Hall steps" Quote
bolty58 Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Nervy 1-0. Macronic eruption at full time. McCarthy in for next year. Just miss the playoffs at his first attempt. Quote

Agree that Ameobi definitely needs to put in a good display, he’s certainly looked fatigued too. Can’t help but feel he’s been found out somewhat though. Teams just seem to know not to let him cut inside. Show him outside into his weaker right and he seems pretty lacking in ideas. Quote
Blondi Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Decent crowd expected; 20K ish, actually really looking forward to the game now. Quote
