I'm afraid at this stage of the season it's shit or bust. If we set up like we have for most of the season hoping to nick a spawny goal then we're fucked.

Yeah of course. The balance needs adjusting. Just saying the likelihood is IF we're to win it will still be an edgy and tight affair. Setting up and leaving them space in the midfield would be suicide.

im on about maximising our chances of creating more shots at goal. 4-2-3-1 gives that if you play in their half rather than sitting off trying to sock up pressure, as we do. then launching the ball to whoever with absolutely no one running off him in the small likelihood he wins the ball 

 

there isnt a science to football. if your worried about being caught out at the back? sit people in there to mop up. (Henry & Pratley) if you're playing 3 behind a lone striker whose 5ft 9? get the ball in to his or supporting players feet and build from there.

That's everyone's best chance of winning.

We'll have plenty of defending to do anyway, so perhaps a slightly more positive approach and making them defend for a while might be useful.

Who knows; osede might get a nose bleed as he ventures towards their penalty area.

He's 38 and finished. Not sure booing him is going to change that. Not his fault he was signed when he was all we could afford. He'd basically retired at Bristol City but Ken hadn't sorted anything out so that is who we ended up with.

To be fair, Parky knows a thing or two about playing with a team weighted towards attacking, it’s usually when we are 1 or 2 down and he throws the kitchen sink on the field

 

I’d like to see us start with a set up that will go the 90 minutes and give us a chance at both ends simultaneously

It's the only game all season where we can't set up for a draw, we have to go attacking. In that sense it may be the easiest selection Parky has had to make all season. Ameobi in particular needs to play the game of his life, get him on the ball running at them, and pray it's one of those days when he looks like a proper player!

Agree that Ameobi definitely needs to put in a good display, he’s certainly looked fatigued too. Can’t help but feel he’s been found out somewhat though.

 

Teams just seem to know not to let him cut inside. Show him outside into his weaker right and he seems pretty lacking in ideas.

His performances haven’t been great recently but I’d like to think that’s got more to do with the fact we have been so poor as a team
