MalcolmW Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 This is a must win game. The players' focus should be on winning the game, and remembering that 2-0 is better than 1-0 and 3-0 (!) is better still. Remember heads dropping at Stoke when QPR went ahead in their match? We can't control what the other teams do, and sitting back if scores are ever in our favour is unsound. Quote

famouswanderer Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Some fucking turnips support Forest, jesus christ. Ive lived down this way for years mate. Every single one ive ever met has been a cunt. I hate them. Been saying all season I hope it doesnt come down to this last game. Quote
RUREADY2ROLL Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 So they lose 3-0 and we win 1-0 will do? That doesn't sound all that ridiculous. In fact with that in mind we should be aiming to score as many as possible. Drag them into it. I can't imagine that all 3 will avoid defeat and if we can score the goals to drag Birmingham into it, they are playing the best team behind Wolves IMHO. If we win then Burton and Barnsley finish below us unless they win; So Preston and Derby dont lose and we win then its Championship next season We lose or draw its League 1 Quote

marple whites Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Another reason homes are fucking shit Yep, certainly made watching some of these home games sober, bloody hard work. Quote
Adlington Trotter Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Last minute Preston and Derby equalisers. Last minute Alnwick winner from a corner for us, Jimmy Glass style. Absolute pandemonium and heavy drinking commences. Realistically, none of the three will win. Parky given the boot on Monday. Quote
Nottm_Wanderer Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Ive lived down this way for years mate. Every single one ive ever met has been a cunt. I hate them. Been saying all season I hope it doesnt come down to this last game. I think you are being a tad harsh there. I've lived in Nottingham since I was 21 (I'm 60 now) . Forest fans are alright I know loads of them , they had some hard times like us , they have even had to put up with Megson and dougie as managers. Most have a soft spot for us . The atmosphere at the city ground is always good and the pre match "city ground all mist rolling in from the trent" is pretty impressive and far better than the "Manny road / sweet Caroline' we can muster. When I first moved here it was the start of their glory European era. Forest are no different to any other club. They have some dodgy fans just like we do , but they travel in numbers and are OK. I once travelled with a coachful of forest fans to a midweek fa cup replay at Burnden. Trevor Francis extra time winner. i directed the driver on a shortcut to the ground and the coach was bricked after the match ! If history is anything to go by we have a half decent record at the macron Reebok against them ... I think ! "History doesn't win you matches though ... it's players " ..that almost sounded like a cloughie quote. He would have sorted this poor excuse of a footie team out . Anyway my conclusion is forest fans are OK . County fans are too, but whether they will be when Nolan joins us as manager is another discussion !!! Quote
Casino Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 re forest fans as we were approaching barnsley, one of em rang his mate, nick wright, for us to speak to each other yes, that nick wright, ex watford Quote
ianovit Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Firstly apologies for mixing 2 threads but the Burton element has dried up and prior to now I was too angry and hungover to offer my thoughts. Burton - fucking hell - I have been following Wanderers for 50 years and that is as bad as it gets. it was pitiful. I have defended Parky throughout given the resources at his disposal but recently I am losing confidence. The Birmingham game was crying out for Wilbrahim towards the end. Granted he is a big lump but our defenders were launching the ball towards midgets Clough and Noone? Saw Saturdays line up in the pub beforehand and collectively our hearts sank. Flanagan Taylor Dervite Derik none of whom should have started. It seems Parky has fallen out with Little but he and Robinson though not the best defenders offer something going forward. Not one effort on target against a bag of shite says it all. PP didn`t want to lose Madine but couldn't sign a replacement. Clough & Walker have been awful. With Gaz we had a limited threat going forward and a gameplan without him virtually none. We got lucky initially after he left - Ameobi had a blinder against Bristol City and ALF popped a couple in but only crumbs. Last season our Centre backs got 16 goals I think - this season one.I appreciate we have had less pressure going forward and the defences are tighter at Championship level but getting your head on a corner/set play cannot be that much different?. Basically we have run out of steam. Ameobi at former clubs has mainly been an impact sub - he is asthmatic and cannot play 90 mins every week. Karl Henry turned our season around but he is knackered. Pratley has never returned to full fitness and the replacement options are simply not good enough. Now for some positivety. I can see Burton maybe winning at Preston - once Derby score they wont give a fuck. Barnsley will lose at Derby and a four goal swing is not inconceivable against Birmingham. Last week Ben Alnwick (who was appalling against Wolves) made a couple of excellent saves late on to keep the differential down whilst Brum conceded a third in injury time at QPR. Could be crucial. On a different note we have outplayed Reading home and away - 2 draws and they will finish above us on Goal difference. Not sure about the conspiracy theorists but if there is an issue in the dressing room - sort it out or play the kids. We cannot be worse than last week and we have a realistic chance of avoiding the drop if the team shows up. We are a fickle bunch and I am happy to celebrate like is 1999 if we pull it off. Last weeks debacle will soon be forgotten. Highly unlikely but Sweaty Ken may have a buyer lined up - I suspect he will have a dog and a White stick mind you!. Whatever happens i will be there next season. We are not good enough for the Championship but we take the money and move on. Good Job I don`t care !!! Keep the Faith. Quote

birch-chorley Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 (edited) Wilbrahim is no target man for long balls, in fact I’d go as far as saying he is dreadful at it. With that in mind we really do need to try something a little bit different than just launching it long With regards goals from corners last season, how many of them came from a Morais assist, genuine question, I bet a big chunk of them did. He needs to start for me Edited May 2, 2018 by birch-chorley Quote
