You heading to Spain

Are you mobbing up for a rumble on the beach?

Athy crew off to Seville for the England game in October, a nice 3 dayer

Gone self catering for the first time with the kids in tow and don’t think I’ll ever go all inclusive in Spain/canaries ever again.

If things go to plan, you won't have the choice.

Looking highly like the Spaniards are going to ban AI.

What’s their overall aim with that? Surely it’ll just drive punters away? I can generally take or leave it from a personal point of view but it just makes life easier on a family holiday and even when it’s just me and our Maud it’s worth the few quid extra to upgrade just for breakfast and the odd few drinks.

1 - Stops spurious Compo claims - I was ill and staying AI and only ate in the hotel

2 - AI Affects loads of small bars and businesses aroud the hotels

That would put me off taking family. I'd assume all restaurants would go up overnight?

Only done AI once and it's not for me

I can see why.

I remember the first boom in Tenerife about 10 years ago. It killed the patch area etc.

Half the hotels are owned by massive firms like H10 and there’s only them making any money. And it won’t be going back in to the local economy that’s for certain.

For places like that and where I’ve just been I can see it causing more damage than good, the places need folk to spend money locally not give it all massive hotel chain and not leave it for a week.

I’d rather pay for a decent meal and proper pint.

Other places it works a treat obviously. I wouldn’t fancy going SC in Jamaica or Egypt or summet, especially with the kids.

Same here

Just encourages masses of shite, gluttony and huge wastage.

Didn’t really find that to be an issue in a hotel full of Germans last week, to be honest. I have been to some AI places that are like feeding time at the zoo though. Even if they introduce packages where at least all your drinks are included then I’d be happy with that just to save pissing about with money around the pool.

far from when we went Portugal

Excellent choice of world foods great for our 2 who have dietary requirements

I guess it depends where you go......

aye, it's just that cas and jules are used to AI in benidorm and the likes, peasants

AI in Mexico/Caribbean vs AI in Spain is a different animal completely.

Over the pond you tend to get 8-10 "restaurants" serving off a menu.

From my tiny experience - lads trips - Spain/Canaries is just slop.

Found both Turkey and Egypt to be mixed when doing AI there. But don't think I'd wanna eat out in either of those destinations.

Cape Verde was pretty decent, but tends to get boring after a few days. Again, you usually have a few restaurants to choose from, rather than just the main buffet.

Yep, it’s exactly that

Got to stop going to 2* places :D

AI is for scutters that think visiting Red Hot Buffet World, or what it’s called, is actually a cultured culinary experience

AI is generally for people who eat, just because they have to, in order to soak up the copious amounts of alcohol.

It does help when you have younger kids mind re ice creams and the like and is great if your'e on a budget.

Off to Barcelona on Sunday. Then a 12 night cruise round the Med from next Tuesday. Not sure what to expect on the cruise, as we've never done one before. But got the premium drinks package, so I'll probably not give a toss after a few beers from each bar!!

My experience of AI was holiday village

Its not the AI particularly,it's the missing out on going out at night

Tbf, there were pushing 20 of us with about 10 kids so it actually served a purpose

For years after that we have just done SC and as my kids don't do the 15 ice creams and drinks an hour, much better for us

If I went away with the kids now,I'd consider AI as I cant afford their bar bills

Been on a couple of all inclusive holidays and If I'm being honest, I'm not a fan, went to the Dominican Republic and Egypt all inclusive, but it just didn't float my boat. just felt that I was back at school dinners with iffy food and the ale was shit, really shit.

Me and the Mrs have been invited to an all inclusive to Side in Turkey next summer, no thanks! £750 for 2 weeks all inclusive in the summer holidays, the apartments/hotel got 3.5 stars on trip advisor and the food is generally classed as awful, the ale stops at 10 PM too, you get what you pay for, is true imo.
