Portugal is very cheap compared to the rest of Europe. Been to a few different resorts.

We went to Alvor a couple of years ago and beer was a Euro.

Did 3 weeks there for the Euro's (when they were there), great little place with a fantastic beach

Not that cheap in Albufeira £3.50 - £4 a pint, £10 for a G&T. Not that friendly either later on at night, but that’s mainly due to all the pissed up English lads.

Just spoken to him. He doesn't think he's going to get paid next week. That's a pisser because the royal bank of dad will end up bailing him or for cat payments and insurance.

Just visited the old town in Albufeira, never again, full of chavs wearing vest tops and tattoos and loads of Irish bars.

Albufeira is a mixed bag. For sure the old town is a tourist trap charging tourist prices, but that applies the world over.

If you want cheaper drinks and to avoid the crowds, drink where the locals drink, don't be a dickhead and maybe even learn a few Portuguese word/phrases .About 50,000 people live in the area, they must go drinking somewhere.

Yeah the little square in the old town is lovely to look at during the day, but it's top dollar and dickhead central at night.

If you're there and want to watch some sport on TV and have some reasonably priced drinks, try the Bellavista Sports Cafe.

Spoke to two different couples earlier at our hotel, first ones should have flown to Mexico , but instead going back home , and the others were already at Gatwick when they found out.

Speaking this morning to owner of the small Greek hotel we are staying at and he said he stopped dealing with Thomas Cook 4 years ag as they were difficult to get payment from. 

My holiday in November now fucked. Luckily all booked with TC - so will get a full refund via the ATOL protection scheme. And failing that from credit card. Does pay to use a CC when booking certain things for sure. Pissed off that the holiday is no more. Only used TC as the flight was Sat-Sat. Tui only flying Fri or Tue. Checked prices last night and this morning. They had gone up. Supply and demand. Shitty industry at times.

Also got 10 years of pension with TC. Awaiting further information about that.

Shitty on their staff. But TC fucked over all the old Airtours staff (including all the subsidiary brands like Cresta, etc) back in 2007-08. What goes around comes around as they always say. Guessing all the top brass from back then have already headed off into the sun with their £millions stuffed away safely.

Travel Counsellors have set-up a dedicated email address and asking Thomas Cook staff to get in touch. Saw it on FB earlier. 

Daughter got a flight sorted for tomorrow evening - but told no transfer. They are 2 hours from the airport in resort and quoted £100 for a taxi. This cannot be right? On a package holiday - surely the lot should be included in repatriation?

If there's a few folk in sane boat maybe get together an escape committee and try to book a mini bus

Just been to Estapona for 4 night. Pleasantly surprised. Nice old town and variety of eating and drinking by the marina.
