  • For the record, I've never had any business dealings with captainmed. I hardly know the bloke and he certainly doesn't know me or my business. It's not the best review I've had, but you can't win

Portugal is great north of the Algarve with a beautiful coastline and nice coastal towns from Sesimbra through Cascais, Nazare, Peniche etc - think it's called the Silver Coast and locals holiday there and the seafood is excellent. Inland some amazing places like Obidos and mountain villages which are pretty much self-sufficient and bartering is rife to avoid taxation. People are great but not many English speakers in that area although quite a few of the older generation speak French from the time when many of them had to go there to find work.

Off to Kos for a week shortly and then back for 3 before heading to SE Asia for a month until New Year - fortunately none of it booked through Thomas Cook - although my mate has just lost her TC holiday and is very pissed off, but sympathetic to the staff and customers.

Just been to Estepona for 4 night. Pleasantly surprised. Nice old town and variety of eating and drinking by the marina.

Top spot. I was also pleasantly surprised when I spent one night between Christmas 2017 and New Year down there. Out in the main square drinking and eating close to the communal stage expecting Christams carols and/or some Flamenco dancing to come on.

A troupe of absolute Latina honeys emerged and did a few dance routines in what I can only describe as a collection of Victoria's Secret finest.

Wouldn't happen in Oswaldtwistle.

Awful news about TC, feel so sorry for the employees and holiday makers, no doubt other tour operators will take advantage of the situation and prices for flights etc will rocket.

If there's a few folk in sane boat maybe get together an escape committee and try to book a mini bus

They are the only TC customers at the hotel. Rest are Russian.

Give Tomski  a bell then.

A few TC customers on our flight out to the Dom Rep. They were the lucky ones

Mate and his Mrs had paid £5K for Mexico in a few weeks time. Will get their money back. Now being quoted £4K for Tenerife by TUI. Supply and demand and all that. Robbing fuckers.

To be fair, we have been looking at holidays for next year and £4k is standard across europe. Only Turkey and Egypt is looking cheaper really.

Booked with Thomas cook to fly back so after they went bump booked with jet 2 original price was £320 but ended up paying £732 thieving cunts

🤣🤣 Cheers S. Hopefully see you when you do my mums roof or soon after

Currently in New York £6 a pint is the cheapest I’ve found and it’s hot as hell

Get in Jimmy’s Corner, a little bar just off Times Square, on 44th. Beer around $4 in there when I was last in a couple of years ago

I’ll give it a go tonight

For those who have never been to New York I highly recommend it. Over here for my brothers wedding. Thought it was gonna be a nightmare bringing a toddler but it’s been great.
The place just gets better and better each time I’ve been

Slots on the popular routes will get snaffled up, TC had some decent take off times.

They also had some routes where only they flew to, pretty much all on packages - these may not get taken up as there won't be the demand, unless jet2 decide to risk it - but I doubt anything will happen there until the dust settles and the hotel owners get desperate to fill the rooms

Opinion Piece - Traf will probably come along and destroy it :)

Used to like the 6am to greece planes

Did 5am last year...that was a step too far tbh

Cant be doing with flying home at 8pm, but will probably need to bite the bullet

If someone does take the routes on, and there's no reason why they wouldn't, especially on routes where TC had a virtual monopoly, then fares would need to be higher than TC were charging, as they've already proved to be loss makers.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Ryanair looked to get more involved.

Are the flights loss makers, though

Whenever ive looked at tc packages, it looks like theyre giving the accomodation away

Granted, their flights are cheaper than tui and jet2
