First time I’ve taken my daughter to the shops since the beginning of Lockdown because I had no other choice,  people are still in shops not wearing masks, it’s mind blowing, my daughter wore one , 3 year old and happy to wear one. 
 

If you don’t wear one, you can’t go in, if you’re exempt then stay at home.

went out last night and it was faultless (apart from the bill) only problem is some places won’t play ball if that’s the case close them

And storing it, and keeping it secure from people who might want it long before they're supposed to! Going to be a huge few months.

I’m not sure, I’d say Brexit was about 40% either side entrenched with 20% in the middle undecided 

This has a lot more people in the middle for me, i was one of them. Back in March it was all about Saving the NHS, they were ill prepared for it and needed the time to get themselves together. Only a small % of people opposed the restrictions early doors, the furlough scheme appeased many. 

However the longer it goes on, the more jobs that are flushed down the toilet the more people will oppose the restrictions and the impact its having on the economy 

The tides turning 

Edit... just had a look and 90% supported lockdown restrictions in March, support currently at 70% according to Ipsos Mori, with half of those classed as ‘somewhat supportive’. Let’s see what that looks like when 3m have lost their jobs and can’t pay the mortgage

speaking to my mum just now

her mate's granddaughter, just started at Liverpool Uni, on an art course, shares a flat with 2 other girls

she does an art course, so it all can't be done online and requires some classes / contact

she caught it there

once her flat mates found out, they've gone home!!!  

another family she knows - son has got it, no symptons, mum has got it, got the runs, dad has got it, in a bad way 

so unpredictable

As things stand we will be in a bizarre situation where a 21 year old from ‘the North’ (who has a 1 in a 100,000 chance of dying from Covid) can’t go into their local pub as they are shut, yet 5 miles to ‘the South’ a 90 year old with pre existing conditions (who has a 1 in 5 chance of dying from Covid) can go to their local 

anyone who thinks it’s impractical to ask the vulnerable groups to shield needs their heads testing IMO 

 

There must be a few on here who fall into the category of being over 60, clinically obese, asthmatic or have some other underlying condition. Or live with someone who is. Or have family/friends who are.

Does anybody seriously think 'most' of those people would happily adhere to locking themselves away/not able to go to the pub/match/see friends and family - for the next 12 months? While everyone else goes back to normal?

If they’d rather nobody be able to go the pub or a restaurant just because they shouldn’t, knowing that millions of jobs depend on it then I’d suggest that’s selfish

Isn't the suggestion that millions of people don't, and allow you to crack on completely normally, a bit selfish? 

Of all the people offering it as the obvious solution, I haven't seen any that would also consider themselves vulnerable and therefore have to take on the restrictions they're suggesting.

I'm also not convinced that - even if you could remove all these people and those who live with them - that pubs/restaurants would be any better off than they were under the August/September restrictions. We're talking a significant % of the country.

I reckon if you just shut Whetherspoons and anywhere that sells mild, it would instantly mean a load of old, obese and vunerable would be out of the equation

the young uns can still go to bars with loud music and stuff

If it was owt like imminent, this whole .ockdown would be presented in a different way, imo

Something like, be patient, give us a few more weeks say... if it was presented like that, on a timeline of say, til december, you would get better buy in

As it is, i know many, many generally law abiding folk wont be following all the rules

Looking increasingly likely that we are going to have to close down the business I’ve spent the last 21 years helping to build. Not even the slightest clue what I’ll do if that happens. Does that mean I’m now in favour of giving up on trying to control the virus? Does it fuck. I’d rather give my Mum, Dad and Father in law the best chance of staying alive thanks very much.

People talk a lot about the mental health issues this crisis is causing. They are horrible and people clearly need a lot of help. But imagine the long term impact of living in the knowledge that you didn’t do everything you could to protect the vulnerable from the virus.
