peelyfeet Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 There's going to be some folk who won't get vaccinated too. The higher the number who refuse it, the more likely the chance of mutation, which if it happens means we'd all need another vaccine. Quote

Would that be correct ? Yes definitely, and if you target the health workers and the vulnerable first, even more positive effect. I can't see it starting until early 2021, hope I'm wrong, buy that's what I'm reading as the most likely. In the US they want 2 months of monitoring the phase 3 trial before moving to roll out, and the phase 3 trial aint finished yet, so even if it finished tomorrow, that's early Dec, and I'm fairly sure US will get first dibs. peelyfeet Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 (edited) Letting the virus rip through populations also increases the chance of mutation. Every time the virus breaks into a cell, it has the opportunity to mutate. It would be horribly ironic if it does end up mutating because a large population went for natural herd immunity. Its unlikely to happen though, from what ive read, but the chance increases with every new infection. When I say mutate, I mean mutate in a way that renders the current vaccines ineffective Edited October 10, 2020 by peelyfeet Quote

I remember it being mentioned almost as an afterthought and a sweetener at the end of one of the briefings a few weeks ago but then hardly discussed. I've a feeling there might be some sort of injunction out in the media perhaps, because there's loads going on. Quote
