Exactly, there are lots opportunities at the moment, even if they are short term.

Are there lots of people up for taking them though?

That's the next big fallout, isn't it? As supermarket workers and others fall ill/have to isolate, a lack of people willing to replace them as everyones getting 80% of their wages for doing nothing.

Would make sense to me that if employers are giving the government a list of workers that are furloughed, and there are vacancies springing up across essential services, then it shouldn't be too difficult to match one to the other.

I think I probably found it on FB. To be honest, I think they will undoubtedly have an essential workers policy and undoubtedly a list just like we have. I think the problem with the UK list is that it is extremely wide. Just about everyone could justify being out and about if they wanted to.
I work for a local funeral director, does that make me an essential worker? I'd argue it doesn't; all I do is drive either a limo or a hearse and carry a coffin into church/crem. Or then I could argue that I am just because I work in the funeral business.

An NHS worker is on the list but unless they are actually travelling to or from a workplace WHICH IS TREATING CORONA VICTIMS then are they really essential?

Unfortunately other diseases, illnesses, injuries, treatments haven’t stopped because of Corona, many NHS workers are surely needed in other capacities?

Ok, reworded; a nurse is on a day off. Is she/he still an essential worker on that day?

Not that day but what’s your point? That day is probably their day to go to the supermarket?

Wife works for the NHS and did that “NHS” shopping hour at Tesco Middlebrook yesterday, she said it was fucking farcical. Massive queues & empty shelves.

Haha, I thought you meant should you buy stuff with a long shelf life.

Yeah, dont panic buy, but if you haven't got long shelf life stuff, I'd get a weeks worth in your next shop is what I meant, from a local supplier if poss

You are going to be allowed out in lockdown to buy food. We need to break the panic buying nonsense. It is what will end up making even lockdown fail if people are selfishly stocking up. We need people to go out ONCE a week to buy their food as normal. Simple.

My Neighbour, she's about 80, and just come our of hospital after some stomach surgery. We were chatting to her over the fence yesterday, and she's having to self isolate because she's really not well at them minute, she still couldn't help but say "It's all a bit of an overreaction this, the Flu kills tens of thousands each year"  - I just walked off at that point, and left her speaking to Mrs Sweep

Older people seem as one in this matter, we are the concerned ones.
