Ok, cheers

We have about 30 people who can't do their work at home

I now have 6 self isolating

I can't carry on very much longer

If we drop below 15 or 20 if it's the wrong folk, we will need to shut the doors

This is why I favour a lockdown

could you get any temps in or is it too difficult? - there may be loads looking for work

Italy growth in death rate % (+12%)  and new cases  (+10%)

Big drop in both,  for the first time in ages - hope this is a trend and not a blip.

either the lockdown is working or Lombardy is getting herd immunity, or both

either way it appears that its working 🙏

Has the UK number dropped a bit today?

Unskilled, I have a few temps in already

2 of them have already gone off

The unskilled stuff I can bring people in. But there's some skills I can't easily replace

At our place it’s flipped

Got 6 drivers with no work as they deliver to restaurants bars etc

but online sales (Amazon) has gone through the roof toilet roll and oat milk especially so we now have drivers packing web orders

I make it 15 from 17 at our place who couldn't really work from home, one of the 2 who can starts wfh tomorrow and I'm in isolation so am already wfh (I include myself in the 15 altho I can really wfh).

I can see it ending up 5 or so of us trying to do everything unless it all goes into lockdown.

Yeah down from +32% to +21% growth compared to yesterday.

In the countries where its slowed down, the pattern seems to be that when it drops below +15% consistently, it ultimately tails off, so hoping this will happen in Italy too - I think the higher the amount of deaths, the longer it takes for the tail off to occur, I would imagine until they can get the beds to patients requiring ICU ratio 1:1 there's going to be lots of people dying who would otherwise be saved.

30% of our team are off at the moment. None of them think they've got CV. If we could test them - they might be back on the front line in 2 days. As it stands - they won't be back in for about 2 weeks. And more people will ring in tomorrow.

I've got a banging headache and a sore throat. I've had it for a few days. If I'd have been tested Friday - it would really help me returning with some confidence tomorrow. Right now I'm worrying in case I'm one of the weird ones who doesn't get the cough and temperature and I end up passing it on to others!

That's where I've been at since I self isolated with symptoms a fortnight ago, was proper ill for a week, but went back yesterday but still got sore throat and headache (sinuses).I've definitely had a virus of some sort. 50% of my department off and maybe more tomorrow.

Think a 2 week lockdown here might spare us the real shit seen in Italy?

If so, Boris needs to just come out tomorrow and absolutely nail the country down, full beans.

2 weeks does much less damage than months of fucking about.

Lets bring Xmas forward.

Exactly

As ET mentions above, it's going to put untold, unfair strain on the ones who stay healthy

This. It has to be done. Now. I was very much in the “it’ll be OK” camp a couple of weeks ago. The pathetic shit going on in supermarkets and at the seaside shows that it’s got to happen now because too many people simply won’t listen to advice

Again, why do you think the usual would listen to that I’d they can’t listen to a 2m rule

Because you can drive round the streets and fine anyone you see and tell them to go home

The army can help with that

It's far easier and safer than trying to go round a park watching and warning everyone, that's like spinning plates

There's a reason why Spain, Italy and France went down that route

And people appear to be listening

Lockdown won't stop everyone, but it'll stop a lot more people going out than they did today

Edit

Oh and Sydney shut down Bondi beach, because it was easier to do that than police everyone on the beach

So now no one is going to Bondi beach

I’ll know I’ve had enough of being on lockdown when I’d happily see the scousers lift the title instead.

May I remind you that I am drawing up a guest list for the opening night of Shed D’Lostock and this kind of talk will have you moved from the yes list on to the maybe list with @royal white and his Turkish delights the sick puppy

Unfortunately I don't think it's going to save London for the next month or so, they're too few days behind Italy to spare them. The majority of the patients who die in London in the next 2 or 3 weeks will already be infected now, the longer he waits though, the longer it will take for the recovery in London to come into effect.

everyone else in UK seems to be a few weeks behind London, so we've got a better chance

Until they start to ship the London infected into OUR northern ICU beds and then the problem becomes ours when our own get sick.

Seems to be the only way, unless today's figures do start to show a slowing trend.

However, I suppose it could go back up again after this weekend's fine weather exploits.
