Not sure what the logic would be - we're probably 18 months from a vaccine - and the thing is spreading. Are you going to shut down all or most international travel for 2 and a half years till a vaccine is available and deployed? It makes sense to slow spread down to let health systems cope - but the world isn't going to stop.

The situation now whereby you're seeing small numbers in Europe by May will be totally different.

Personally I don't see justification for stopping major tournaments - unless host countries are unable to hold them for logistical reasons. People are flying round the world still - and meeting and going to events...

I’d imagine, as in Italy now, it would be to slow the spread down to reduce the flow of patients through hospitals as much as possible

Nothing to do with a vaccine, you’d imagine a level of herd immunity will kick in before that’s available

In the meantime, it’s hard to justify risking putting any mass gatherings like sporting events on

Yep. It was described earlier as flattening out the peak- taking pressure off services.

I tried the national anthem when washing my hands earlier. Kinell, seems an age when compared to normal- even when a good scrub is needed to remove soil.

You been burying a body?

As per Dr Spiders instructions tonight I shall mostly be drinking hop house 13 and maple gold.
He is a doctor right? Otherwise that prostrate exam was a bit awkward.

So the Russians are rumoured to have biological weapons under lock n key

Russia gets thrown out of the Olympics for being sneaky bastards.
Olympics are in the Far East

New virus comes from the far east.
Olympics in doubt

No confirmed cases in Russia.

Bolton NHS is fully mobilised. Loads going on behind the scenes. Proud to be part of it, especially at times like these. General attitude is resolute.

Good to hear.

Kent I assume you’re a nurse or doc, what’s the protocol if someone comes in with suspected Corona virus?

We've had customer calling us up today, and saying they aren't seeing any sales/reps for the foreseeable future, in order to minimise the risk. The worlds gone bonkers!!

Our China supply is back at work

Weeks late but back all the same

Nearly all of ours are back, nowhere near full capacity yet though. Our battery supplier is in Wuhan, they reckon they won't be at 100% for months yet

You will know better than me, but im told it always takes a while to get 100 per cent staffing as loads dont return after new year

True, its not uncommon for 15%-20% of staff not to return, and they generally don't know who isn't coming back until they fail to turn up. The fact this has happened straight after CNY really hasn't helped the situation at all. The Chinese will get back up and running though, as they'll just operate 24/7 until they're back on steam. Most of my lot reckon they'll be straight within about 6 weeks, a few reckon up to 3 months, but that's those based in /around the Hubai province.

I keep buying five or six cans a beer each night, and plough through them just in case i never get to drink again

Nice.

I might change my 'prepper' tactics from 5 or 6 cans of food to 2 bottles of red.

There's an algorithm to follow which essentially says suspect CV - especially if the patient has been to a high risk area. Take a swab and then isolate patient in a room with a phone to communicate while it's the swab is at the lab. Patient to get their own toilet to use while awaiting the result.

Nobody has been going on or out of the surgeries while tests have been taking place. Not sure how long it takes but presumably pretty quick as they've reopened pretty rapidly after what have been false alarms.

There's a pod outside A&E where suspected cases can be brought for testing too.

Everyone is on alert but nobody is panicking you'll be pleased to hear. Seems like the calm before the storm to me.

Seems very thorough. I keep thinking it’ll be ok, but the hysteria causes self panic. That’s reassured us.
