That was one of the loveliest things to ever happen. Stood in my garden sobbing like a baby! Proud to work for the NHS 👏👏👏👏❤️

  • My uncle lost his battle to this in Royal Bolton this morning, so he will be one of today’s numbers.  last rites over the phone held by a nurse with no family there. made an exception yester

  • I’ve sat with my mum who is slipping away, literally breathing her last today. She idolises the Queen, and whilst she didn’t in all likelihood hear that, I know she would have loved every single

"You walked past someone with asthma, go directly to jail, dont collect 1200 trumpbux"

like Oregon Trail with infinite lives but a showstopping programming error places oregon just outside the visible universe.

gonna be fun when testing folk reveals people that had it in august.

It is what it is

Spain's Prime Minister has just addressed the nation - lockdown extended to 9 May although children will be allowed to leave the house and go outside from 27 April, subject to social distancing

from that article

It would not be until March 2 — another five weeks — that Johnson would attend a Cobra meeting about the coronavirus. But by then it was almost certainly too late. The virus had sneaked into our airports, our trains, our workplaces and our homes. Britain was on course for one of the worst infections of the most deadly virus to have hit the world in more than a century.

Last week, a senior adviser to Downing Street broke ranks and blamed the weeks of complacency on a failure of leadership in cabinet. In particular, the prime minister was singled out.

“There’s no way you’re at war if your PM isn’t there,” the adviser said. “And what you learn about Boris was he didn’t chair any meetings. He liked his country breaks. He didn’t work weekends. It was like working for an old-fashioned chief executive in a local authority 20 years ago. There was a real sense that he didn’t do urgent crisis planning. It was exactly like people feared he would be.”

more interesting that theres a chinese dragon in the picture but theyd rather dunk on mr johnson than even mention the chinese communist party being anything like at fault.

id be executing the advisor later tonight as a spy, but thats just me.

It was said by many that the government bottled the early decisions

Tip toed round the situation while every other country were taking strict measures

Interesting to see how the usual dress this one up

Sorry, rude boy, wasn't meant to quote the article x

Bet chris green was up in arms in jan and feb when we were ignoring the science

Or maybe not

Fcuk knows what less than 7/10 would look like

Morning when we played Wimbledon away, some twat crashed in to Spinning Gate traffic light in Leigh. Went for a socially-mandated walk this morning (Bradshawgate busier than normal 🙄) and it still want fixed. Using it as the assumption of normality from now onwards.

A senior Department of Health insider described the sense of drift witnessed during those crucial weeks in February: “We missed the boat on testing and PPE . . . I remember being called into some of the meetings about this in February and thinking, ‘Well, it’s a good thing this isn’t the big one.’

I'm not really out for heads on spikes for this, but that ST article (and the timeline Zico posted last week) lay out where we've fucked up. My only real concern for now is that those in power realise it moving forward.

That Hancock etc. will do everything but admit any fault for anything (even at the end of that article), doesn't inspire much hope. Hubris is a consistent theme throughout all of these reports.

Stop doing brackets. Just gone for a piss and I can hear Leigh piss a mile away. How many months??

But, but, but they are doing a great job. You all know the rules.

A bullet point summary;

  • UK policy on lockdown and other European countries are not evidence-based
  • The correct policy is to protect the old and the frail only
  • This will eventually lead to herd immunity as a “by-product”
  • The initial UK response, before the “180 degree U-turn”, was better
  • The Imperial College paper was “not very good” and he has never seen an unpublished paper have so much policy impact
  • The paper was very much too pessimistic
  • Any such models are a dubious basis for public policy anyway
  • The flattening of the curve is due to the most vulnerable dying first as much as the lockdown
  • The results will eventually be similar for all countries
  • Covid-19 is a “mild disease” and similar to the flu, and it was the novelty of the disease that scared people.
  • The actual fatality rate of Covid-19 is the region of 0.1%
  • At least 50% of the population of both the UK and Sweden will be shown to have already had the disease when mass antibody testing becomes available
