4th night of riots in Paris, have the bbc & Sky picked this up?

From reading it, seems it's not that widespread and people just being opportunists..

The guy that "started" it all, by riding into an open car door, is asking for calm.. No helmet, riding at speed and has a broken leg from it... lucky ...

How do you social distance in a riot?

my 1st day back in the office today after 4 days wfh home, noticed the roads were much busier today, anyone else?

Very much so,

Had to drive to Shevington today, nutter in a range rover behind me all the way, anyway, stopped over the M6 and was very odd seeing it as quiet as it was!

I think a lot are now struggling with rules.. Next door had a "meeting" on their Garden.. again..! 5 kids in the back garden at one point.

Just read that one applicant who applied for farm work received a reply saying there has been 18,000 British apliclants & there were no vacancies for two months.

I don't think the media is giving us much of a picture here. But the 'workshy Brits' seems a bit of a nonsense narrative when you look at what's happening.

Haven't seen the source you quote re the waiting list but I have read about the salad picking company from West Lancs who received 75 applications for a job and only one applicant was British. I know a few farmers who tell me it's nigh impossible to get Brits working in the fields - reasons are complex some of which are mentioned here (Gurniad quoting the Alliance of Ethical Labour Providers)

I would have expected that at this time of year there's a lot less farm work needed than there will be over the next few months  especially when we get into the fruit season in Autumn so I guess it's going to ramp up gradually. But if farmers feel the need to fly in foreigners there is obviously a problem with Brits doing it - why else would they do it?

There's a difference between applying for a job and volunteering. The article you've linked to states that only 9% of applicants were eligible. It then goes onto refer to contract length, and mentions requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, and contracts for up to six months. It's no surprise people aren't signing up to that when they're on furlough. They're fairly big commitments for volunteer work.

My point wasn't around folk volunteering

We were told we didn't need cheap foreign thickos as they were stealing our jobs

Fair enough. I thought he was referring to the Land Army thing.

Brook I reckon is thicker than a whale omelette and by all accounts a bit of a nutter.

I’d Shag Kevin Keegan to have a whiff of Michelle Keegan
