The police have been utterly ineffective and just not interested in the main. Seen them drive past numerous groups of people on the streets and not remotely interested. it’s not the cause of our problems by any means but it’s certainly adding to them. Quote

I reckon some areas where the low life piss takers are police can’t be arsed not worth the hassle Quote

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, the deputy chief medical officer, has called for people to obey the new rules and expressed fears of a second wave if they are ignored. Surely we need to get strict this time and hopefully we will Quote

Casino Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 To be honest, I've not got a clue how it works, but are we saying that one bloke in a factory tests positive the whole place could be shut down? Quote

Anyone who tests positive provides details of people they have been in contact with. So in the factory scenario not always but imagine if 2-3 out of a workforce of 50 or so you gotta be looking at closedown. Quote

Though you could catch it and never show symptoms. Quote

It’s got to be close contact and for a certain period of time I would assume? Surely just because you work in same building that can’t be a reason to isolate? Otherwise you are going to have businesses closing left right and center continually up here you are contacted and then asked to isolate and asked to go for a test Quote

As far as I see on guidelines if contacted you isolate but only test if symptoms ? Would have thought the obvious thing would be to get a test. Quote

I guess though when applying for the test you have to advise that you have symptoms so perhaps waiting until symptoms arrive (hope they don’t) before applying for test. Quote
Tombwfc Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 (edited) As per Hancock on R4 the other day - if you test positive you have to name anyone you've been within 2m for more than a 15min period, and anyone you've spoken to face to face within 1m. As there is no app at the minute, it's limited only to people you can actually name & have contact details for. Then as per the guidelines, if you get a call you isolate. If you get symptoms you get a test, if its negative you wait until you feel better. If no symptoms you have to isolate for 14 days regardless of whether you test positive or not. There was an example given on Marr this morning of someone in South Korea testing positive after going to a nightclub and it ending in 50,000 people being traced. In the first instance, I'd be more worried about ours working. Edited May 31, 2020 by Tombwfc Quote

Antibody test yes, up to 14 days. Pcr test (swab) depends on the viral load you have in the area that it swabbed. Can show up pretty quickly if they swab the right area. If, for example, you've caught it through your eyes, it's going to take longer to get into your nose and throat so they say within a week of catching is best, because it can disappear from the throat and nose into the lungs pretty quickly if you've got a good immune system Quote
