Face masks mandatory on public transport

Take it, it just means a covering...scarf will do

Two observations, those coverings are likely to be riddled fairly quick

And two, can I wear my niqab?

I will save my final verdict until I see how our economy fares compared to others and then look at the overall picture. Was never going to be as simple as counting the deaths. Well for some it was but in reality much more to it than just that.

amazing that some condemned their response before it actually even started but not surprising

Anyone who has judged our response to today is a clown

Dear god

Either your wording is cloudy or you need to get to barnard castle

Fair enough. I do forget my smiley bollox from time to time.

Second spike incoming due to the flannels protesting in close quarters to each other.

They'll blame the government for that too.

To wait to see how the economy fares, you'd have to wait 4 or 5 years in reality, just looking at the here and the now we don't seem to be doing to well. Of course there is more to it than just counting the deaths, but we're not just a few hundred above other countries, we're miles ahead.

I'm certainly not one to bash the Government, and if Labour were in power, they wouldn't have done much different (I think they may have locked down sooner,  but we'll never know), but questions will need to be answered if when all this finished we are still miles ahead of countries with regards to the death rate

Aye, in particular those who are proud of it

I’m not saying I’m overawed by what I’m seeing. Far from it and it doesn’t look wonderful based on the metrics we have to hand that’s for sure

but on the other hand we can’t declare it a complete disaster as we don’t know. It is as you point out going to be quite some time down the road before full analysis can be made.

but I also predict unemployment figures end of this year and early next will also paint a story of how well these other more heralded nations and governments have handled this. In my opinion and stand to be corrected in due course if appropriate

There won’t be a second spike.

Well not one big enough to cause another meltdown anyway.

Folk have been pissing about on beaches for two weeks and fuck all has happened.

Its over. Time to get a grip and stop being massive nonces.

There is a mass of job losses coming, no doubt about that, it's a good job we're not just about to go "no deal" in with our largest trading partner in 6 months time, otherwise that could be grim 😀

There will, but it won't be until Autumn/Winter time, it won't cause a meltdown, but it will probably mean some sort of shitty lockdown again probably. I hope I'm wrong, and fingers crossed if the kids going back to school doesn't cause an uplift in the R rate, if it doesn't then we just might be OK moving forward

I know it’s got to happen, but the amount of money, time and effort that’s going to be wasted is ridiculous.

Jules Darby sent some pics of an office with screens hanging from the ceiling and all that bullshit. Complete waste of time and money.

It looked like fucking live aid in London yesterday, Blackpool beach was packed over the weekend yet my local has to piss about putting screens up.

Time to get on with it. No fuckers arsed anymore.

yes think I seen it like workers own little bubbles

Some pub owner was right yesterday, after a few beers people’s awareness changes and rules will go out of the window in no time

I’ve been banging on about face masks and particularly on public transport since early March. Still amazed that people/media are still finding reasons to doubt the principle of why its such a good idea.

I wouldn't mind but we've just spent the last few months pissing about preparing for hot desking to start in our office. Them days are over.

I agree with you, "lockdown" is gone, finished with. If it was ever truly in place for many - whoever said its "social distancing version 2 not lockdown version 1" weeks ago was bang on.

Get that fucking boozer open.

If you think this is over, you're deluding yourself. No government in any country in the world (apart from Belarus) believes that there's any proof that the virus won't bounce back to some extent unless we continue with restrictions.

As long as they believe that, and as long as the test results continue to show very low % of positive cases, they aren't going to change their minds. They're scared of it coming back stronger in winter, scared of infections coming in from abroad.

Indeed. It's the common sense approach. Unfortunately there isn't much of that going around at the moment.

Correct. Some of the comments both on here and on other social media platforms are similar to the ‘its only flu’ comments at the start of this. When the deaths add up, people change their minds.
We have to get back to some form of normality but it’ll be a while till we get back to what we would all accept as normal.
It ain’t gone away.
