Burndens Bogs
Obviously a lot of folks plans are fucked for this year, but if we had to guess, when do we realistically think overseas travel restrictions will be lifted?

Escobarp
I’m in Thailand in December all being well and I think it will be q4 before we are allowed to travel anywhere and I’m being hopeful there. Possibly be 2021 I fear

jeep
I was originally going to Italy in early May. Now rescheduled to May 2021. Also had plans for trips to Europe in September, October, November & December. I don't think any will happen 😥

I'm hoping to get to France for a week in September, and that's all I'm looking at this year I think. According to LoveHolidays, my holiday to Mexico at the end of May is still live though, so I've got to pay up the balance of nearly £4000 next week.....even though BA have cancelled the flights, and the hotel it's self has confirmed they are closed until 1st June at the earliest. There was a guy from which (I think) on bbc this morning. Pretty much saying you will get the money back but the holiday companies are making it as difficult as possible for folk to get refunds. And it’s hit and miss with credit card companies as well as they obviously don’t want to take the hit and then chase the tour operator either. Site Supporter Spider Posted April 22, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted April 22, 2020 Flights will resume in June, but social distancing is likely to still be in place, meaning a 180 seat aircraft will allow a maximum of 85/90 people on (My sister works for Jet2 and they have already discussed this) That means demand will outstrip supply and prices will be higher than the planes themselves. I imagine Easyjet will follow suit. Ryanair will probably let people sit on each others laps.

Moderators Casino Posted April 22, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) Im on ryanair - mid june, honestly thonk i may be cancelked by a couple of days Ready for some interesting discussions If im not still tossing it off, its gonna at least keep me busy for a few days Im not sure how half full planes works either Theyd be better off not flying, surely? Still think its a moot point, as corfu dont seem to want us The uk seems to be looked on by greece to have fcuked up Rightly or wrongly Edited April 22, 2020 by Casino
Mounts Kipper
I’ve booked flights out 4th August with Ryanair but not booked return flight yet. As I’m already owed £700 by Ryanair for flights cancelled beginning of April and looks like they are reluctant to give it me back I might as well book my return for the end of August. There'll be no cheap seats for the first people on the site, they'll just be expensive full stop.

The suggestion seems to be a last in first out scenario. They'll try and move you onto other flights. But that's just speculation. She's lower down the Jet2 food chain. Moderators Casino Posted April 22, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 22, 2020 Fair enough Just checked, there are seats But not 50% Distancing wont work on cattle class aircraft anyway If they say i can go, and stavros wants me, i am in If not, ill rebook next june and try to get to barmouth in september High rollers are us
Site Supporter Spider Posted April 22, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted April 22, 2020 Bear in mind, my sister is based in Spain and the discussions there may be different to ones in the UK. I think they are just running all possibilities as they wait for official guidance. None of them think it'll be business as usual though. It'll be a very different travel industry for a while. Traf may be best placed for the bigger picture though.
Site Supporter Spider Posted April 22, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted April 22, 2020 And there's nowt wrong with Barmouth.
jeep
easyJet are talking about using just the window & aisle seats once they're up and running. So that's 2/3rds capacity. I'm sure I read that average capacity is 80%. So not a lot of difference. These talking of flying in June/July/August - no chance..... I would be wary about booking anything new. Insurers would certainly not cover it and would not be surprised if companies start introducing small print along the lines ‘you know the risk’. I would think by end of May there will be some definite answers, maybe in the next few weeks when the exit is outlined
