I was there and knew it was a dive straight away, but laughed my tits off and celebrated anyway.

One cold game which rarely gets a mention was the one v Charlton at Burnden, around 1981 when their fans were put in the Manny Road North.  That was fucking bitter, I was a teenager and went home at half time.

Sure it was a Charlton game when Nat gave his rousing speech when we were skint.

Would have been a little later than this though.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but we played someone at home a few years ago during The Beast from the East, and I honestly thought I was close to hypothermia.

Parky time. There were a couple of games that were so cold and bored stiff that I was shivering. Couldn't wait for the final whistle and to get walking back to the car.

Sunderland at home on a Tuesday night.  Won 1-0 with Zach Clough's helping hand but they dominated possession  and 3-1 home deafet to Preston at the end of the month when it was even colder.

I think it was Dec 81, there was snow all around the pitch and we used our famous underground heating to get the game on.  There were hardly any games that day, I remember being really pleased we had a game to watch, even more so that we won.  No away games survived the weather between losing at Palace at end Nov till returning there to lose in the FA Cup on 23rd Jan.  But we played 4 at home, 2 wins and 2 draws, while a lot of clubs hardly played.

Around about the same time as this there was a home fixture v Barnsley and again the visiting fans were put in the Manny Road North Stand. Really odd to turn up in our normal seats and be surrounded by away fans. Anyway - lots of good banter shared and no trouble. And yes it was f*cking cold!

Plymouth in the cup was bitterly cold. No ice or snow but a persistent fine rain. Was horrible.

I guess you were one of not many at Palace for that one.  Blackburn was next game after Charlton, crowd trebled from 5,500 to 16,500.  Other 2 games either side were QPR and Chelsea.  (Tony Henry, one of my favourite players, scored in 3 of the 4).  We didn't play Arsenal in that era.

Yes, I think Arseal in the cup was the following year at Highbury

Tony Henry was class, i remember him when he worked later for the Prudential, think he may still be doing financial services to this day

That derby game we won in the last minute was chilly

And belgrade

It can't have been that one as I didn't go.

I think it has to have been the 1-3 at home to Preston mentioned above. It was definitely a 3 o'clock Saturday kick off and it fits in with the dates.

Trust me, it was cold

Leeds at during Christmas 95 was also freezing, whole Burndrn Terrace did a half time bounce along to Jonah Louie  to keep warm

Couple of weeks earlier had to endure a 0-0 extra time cup match v Norwich only to lose both on penalties and the feeling in my legs

Another one around 94 ish palace at home some poor old chap had an heart attack in the burnden stand it was raw that night

Nothing compares to the one over Christmas at Roker park on that open end, nearly died that day. 😂

A cold night at Burnden V Tranmere in a FA cup replay in 83, got back to the pub and stood in front of the fire for 20 mins before I thawed out and went the bar and ordered a pint.

Derby game and Megson’s last game vs Hull coldest I’ve ever been at Reebok. Burnden and older grounds never seemed quite as cold to me prob due to being huddled together on a terrace and able to move around. Sitting down always felt a lot colder to me

Bolton v Everton new year day 1979. The day George wood broke Peter Reids leg.

We played in red at home. Snowed all night and all morning....Abandoned at half time.

Snowball fights all down Manchester Road with the Scousers

Was that around 93/94? Boxing Day?
