my view is that folk should have freedom to choose and have freedom to manage their own life as they see fit.

Wow.

What if those folk are thick, ignorant, selfish folk who put you and your family at risk? What if you're out for a meal or a drink and they invade your space and are breathing and coughing on you - you complain and they say you shouldn't worry about it because they've been acting responsibly for months?

Not a problem right? Because they're doing what they see as fit.

Ive not been anywhere where distancing and Covid measures haven’t been taken seriously and not been respected by the clientele, if it did happen you could always tell the offending person to fuck off.

Here’s a thing, two weeks ago, my daughter and her boyfriend both lived with us but moved into their own home a week before Christmas. Since then we’ve been to their house to help them move in and they’ve been back here to eat me out of house and home.

Question: does tier 4 now mean we can no longer go to them or them to us for the sake of almost a fortnight separation?

I’ve been pretty good to be fair as the wife has an autoimmune condition but neither of us are 100% strict.

She still goes to work, as do I. Her lab is pretty sterile and there’s only ever 4 of us in an office at work - quite a large space too.

Not seen any friends for months though unless bumped into them walking the dog. Not had a meal out for months.

Most folk can follow most the rules most of the time and that would be enough to keep most safe.

you will always get imbeciles who push it too far.

You don’t do any supermarket shopping then.

If folk play by the rules you shouldn't have to tell anyone to fuck off.

You don't seem to get that too many folk don't give a fuck about others and just do what they want.

Or maybe you do, because you just do what you want to do.

Just a question, cos like i say, ive played ball, kids havent

What does lockdown stop you doing

Things you really want to do

Ive got preachers in my circle, but its hardly changed their lives

But following all the rules wouldbe massive for my kids

Lockdown stops me seeing my friends, it stops me going out for a pint, it stops me going watching Bolton.

It's shit and I can't wait for it to end.

I know plenty who regularly nip round to others' for drinks of a night. They're of the thinking that they're still being responsible though as they're only mixing with folk who, like them, are being responsible.  It's a fucking joke. Like dickheads travelling the length of the country with a stepladder to watch a football match ... yet deemed to be heroes by many.

It's really no surprise we are where we are. You've got some folk doing the best they can and sticking to the rules, whilst you've got so many who just do what the fuck they want and fuck everybody else.

.... and breathe :)

I’m opposed to government dictating everything you can and can’t do, I’m in favour of government guidelines and for folk to use common sense, I’m generally keeping to my home bubble, when at work keeping distance and the rest of the advice, keeping my contacts outside of bubble at arms length and minimising contact time, if everyone behaved like this we wouldn’t have the problem, house parties, close contact in pubs and schools are driving the infection, 2 of these I can mitigate but not the contact in school.

I agree but there’s too big an element of society (certain ethnic groups, the open mouthed breathing full grey tracksuit brigade, smart arse “no one tells me what to do” lot etc) who won’t apply common sense. The government assume that the majority will be compliant and some will ignore the rules and they are allowed to get away with it. Really wound me up how I was squeaky clean whilst nob heads just had 1 big party through the summer and I felt like the cunt for carrying on working with no holidays  (and harder than ever to make up for the furloughed lot who then took their accrued holidays during December leaving me to pick up the pieces again - but that’s another story and not their fault).

The longer this goes on the less compliant the sensible majority can become as we suffer lockdown fatigue. I’m sure we’re all guilty of pushing the boundaries and have twisted things to justify our actions when it suited.

There are people far worse off than me but everything’s relative. Stops me from seeing my mum properly, seeing my friends in my big Covid safe garden (rarely go to pubs anyway), having a socially responsible pint on the rare occasions that I do and having a little escapism in my life to make the ground hog day of work and sleep just slightly more rewarding. 🎻

I’m starting to wobble with the lack of basic freedoms but thank fuck I have a job, a little bit of money, a garden, loving family, security, we’re not at war, not born in Africa etc unlike those people really battling against life and it’s demons.

let’s hope this is over soon.

They got their 80% and still accrued full holidays - someone could have 11 mths furlough then take month 12 off for their holidays.

Not their faults though. Most wanted to work but there wasn’t any for them as suppliers closed.

Yep. Hindsight !!!

They didn’t want to take them as they wanted proper holidays in September and October. Thought it was just for a couple of months !!!

I take a balanced view, one that I think will keep me and other folk safe and while I listen to government advice I’m not completely following the letter of the law, we’re 9 months in and thankfully not caught the virus so I’m doing something right.

I bet there’s plenty of people who speed or drink/drive saying they don’t always follow the letter of the law, but they know best, and haven’t been caught so crack on

There’s bad laws and good laws, for example I often drive at over 70 on motorways, and I’m sure you’ve done the same.

Im steering clear of folk who I know are at high risk, those who aren’t a high risk have the option to isolate as do folk who are a high risk.

Are you steering clear of all surfaces these people have touched?
